[01:09:32] <PetefromTn_> I use my laptop or smartphone
[01:13:13] <zeeshan-mill> hehe
[01:13:20] <zeeshan-mill> PetefromTn_, that company that asked me to bid
[01:13:25] <zeeshan-mill> asked me to prototype those pieces for them
[01:13:32] <zeeshan-mill> it seems like the other comapny fell through
[01:13:36] <zeeshan-mill> we might still get it.
[01:13:42] <PetefromTn_> HOLY SHIT
[01:13:48] <zeeshan-mill> don;t hold your breath though!!
[01:13:51] <zeeshan-mill> these guys are cheapies
[01:13:57] <PetefromTn_> aw
[01:14:03] <zeeshan-mill> they might be using me for prototype only
[01:14:06] <PetefromTn_> I actually have some work going on here now
[01:14:07] -!- aventtini [aventtini!~sad@79.119.86.201] has joined #linuxcnc
[01:14:23] <PetefromTn_> but yeah if they want me to make em I can DO IT
[01:14:39] <PetefromTn_> ya know its funny I told my wife about that job
[01:14:43] <zeeshan-mill> good to know you got my back
[01:14:47] <PetefromTn_> and the number of parts
[01:14:54] <PetefromTn_> and she was like WOAH
[01:15:19] <PetefromTn_> How in the hell are you going to make all those parts LOL
[01:15:35] <PetefromTn_> and I had to say ......Hell I don't know hehehe
[01:15:47] <PetefromTn_> just kidding
[01:16:52] <PetefromTn_> trying to buy another Fiero GT here because I am weird and have some sorta psychological problem
[01:18:10] <zeeshan-mill> hahaha
[01:18:14] <zeeshan-mill> dude i was asking my wifey
[01:18:20] <zeeshan-mill> if she could run the machines too
[01:18:24] <zeeshan-mill> *machine
[01:18:29] <PetefromTn_> LOL I do the same thing..
[01:18:39] -!- aventtini has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
[01:18:43] <PetefromTn_> She's like I don't know how to do that....
[01:18:57] <zeeshan-mill> easy
[01:19:00] <zeeshan-mill> press a button
[01:19:00] <zeeshan-mill> load a tool!
[01:19:00] <PetefromTn_> I told her I would only let her run them once I have a TOTALLY PROVEN PROGRAM
[01:19:09] <PetefromTn_> I think she can do it
[01:19:14] <zeeshan-mill> i think you gotta let her see what sounds wrong
[01:19:17] <zeeshan-mill> and what sounds normal
[01:19:23] <zeeshan-mill> and if the tool is loaded correctly
[01:19:24] <PetefromTn_> but I need to have a CNC lathe to run to get away with it ;)
[01:19:31] <zeeshan-mill> haha
[01:19:45] <PetefromTn_> ya know what is really funny
[01:19:57] <PetefromTn_> last two weeks I had a BUNCH of rail sales
[01:20:04] <PetefromTn_> and I almost have them all done now
[01:20:15] <PetefromTn_> and I told her how much we made on them
[01:20:36] <PetefromTn_> she was like YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME that is more than she makes working overtime LOL
[01:20:55] <PetefromTn_> I only wish I had that many orders all the time
[01:20:56] <malcom2073> How many parts you looking at?
[01:21:10] <PetefromTn_> I would be working in the shop and not for anyone else
[01:21:18] <zeeshan-mill> PetefromTn_, very nice man
[01:21:21] <zeeshan-mill> its nice when the orders are coming
[01:21:37] <PetefromTn_> yeah I need to design some more cool rails for other guns here
[01:21:46] <malcom2073> If you got the guns, why not
[01:21:53] <PetefromTn_> That is my problem
[01:21:59] <PetefromTn_> I can't afford the damn guns LOL
[01:22:00] -!- SolarNRG has quit [Quit: Leaving]
[01:22:07] <PetefromTn_> freaking things are expensive
[01:22:12] <malcom2073> Find a friend with the gun, and offer them a free rail for letting you borrow it? :P
[01:22:24] <PetefromTn_> that Steyr alone is like $3600.00
[01:22:28] <zeeshan-mill> malcom2073, how dare you say if you had the guns
[01:22:30] <zeeshan-mill> have you not seen his servos
[01:22:34] <malcom2073> Lol
[01:22:35] <zeeshan-mill> they're BAWS!!!
[01:22:36] <PetefromTn_> well that is actually kinda what I do
[01:22:57] <PetefromTn_> yeah baby ;)
[01:23:00] <malcom2073> Haha
[01:23:07] <malcom2073> I have tiny steppers, I have no room to talk about motors :P

[01:23:14] <zeeshan-mill> i love picking on you about that
[01:23:17] -!- Contract_Pilot has quit [Quit: Leaving]
[01:23:26] <PetefromTn_> I remember when I ordered the new servos for the Cinci
[01:23:36] <PetefromTn_> I got them here and was like WOW these are HUGE LOL
[01:23:41] <zeeshan-mill> the wallet drained!
[01:23:43] <PetefromTn_> and in reality they are actually small ones
[01:24:01] <malcom2073> zeeshan-mill: I promise someday I'll go back to servos
[01:24:15] <malcom2073> maybe I'll make enough money on my mill to be able to pay for it heh
[01:24:18] <zeeshan-mill> malcom2073, a machine is better than no machine
[01:24:23] <zeeshan-mill> whether is stepper or servo..
[01:24:28] <zeeshan-mill> both will get the job done
[01:29:25] <zeeshan-mill> PetefromTn_, you got all new servos for x y z?
[01:29:27] <zeeshan-mill> $$$$
[01:29:45] <PetefromTn_> yeah
[01:33:03] <MacGalempsy> I like the idea of putting wives to work in the CNC shop

[01:58:28] <furrywolf> teslas are way, way out of my budget.
[01:59:08] <PetefromTn_> I know I would enjoy a Tesla powertrain from the roadster in my Fiero GT hehehe
[01:59:08] <furrywolf> let's spend 6 years' income on a vehicle! ... nope.

[02:00:15] <furrywolf> old is (my age) + 10? :P
[02:00:26] <zeeshan-mill> PetefromTn_, have you seen the 2015 mustang?
[02:00:28] <zeeshan-mill> its so sexy
[02:00:34] <zeeshan-mill> i rarely like mustangs
[02:00:37] <zeeshan-mill> except the shelbys
[02:00:44] <zeeshan-mill> but boy.. this one is sexy!
[02:00:57] <PetefromTn_> I agree they did a nice job with it
[02:01:04] <PetefromTn_> I like the width and the roofline
[02:01:09] <zeeshan-mill> and youre not old until youre dead!
[02:01:11] <zeeshan-mill> yea
[02:01:12] <PetefromTn_> and the tail lights are sweet
[02:01:14] <zeeshan-mill> the rear fenders!!

[02:01:16] <zeeshan-mill> wow!
[02:01:25] <PetefromTn_> Did you see the Mazda RX9?
[02:01:28] <zeeshan-mill> no
[02:01:38] <PetefromTn_> It is a disappointment I am afriad

[02:03:48] <PetefromTn_> there is a guy who lives down the road from me who just bought a classic Volvo P1800 and it is pretty sweet
[02:04:09] <zeeshan-mill> four door!
[02:04:10] <zeeshan-mill> wtf!
[02:04:54] <PetefromTn_> I know right
[02:04:59] <PetefromTn_> WTH?
[02:05:21] <zeeshan-mill> mazda really doesnt make any cool cars anymore..
[02:05:50] <PetefromTn_> the new Miata is kinda cool but yeah generally not
[02:06:02] <zeeshan-mill> yes thats theo nly thing they got going for em
[02:06:07] <zeeshan-mill> rwd sports car
[02:06:10] <zeeshan-mill> but its slow oem
[02:06:16] <zeeshan-mill> its not like the fc rx7 or fd rx7
[02:06:19] <zeeshan-mill> that were quick from facotyr
[02:06:27] <zeeshan-mill> and had everything else (good handling, looks etc)
[02:06:49] <PetefromTn_> agreed
[02:07:04] <furrywolf> I don't think anyone makes a cool car anymore... teslas are shiny, but the price makes them uncool.
[02:07:06] <PetefromTn_> they just got a SICK SWEET Toyota Supra in the shop today
[02:07:19] <PetefromTn_> its all black
[02:07:26] <PetefromTn_> very clean
[02:07:27] -!- BitEvil has quit [Client Quit]
[02:07:31] <PetefromTn_> big turbo
[02:07:39] <PetefromTn_> hard not to like those cars
[02:07:55] <PetefromTn_> they now have three different ones they are building in the shop
[02:08:06] -!- BitEvil [BitEvil!~quassel@tor/regular/SpeedEvil] has joined #linuxcnc
[02:08:22] * furrywolf has very different tastes in cars, apparantly. :P
[02:08:25] <PetefromTn_> the badass RX7 that I worked on the motor for they put in the car the other day
[02:08:51] <PetefromTn_> and they got this awesome high flow cast dual fuel injector bank intake for it
[02:09:00] <PetefromTn_> and when they put it all in the car
[02:09:08] <PetefromTn_> the HUGE turbo would not fit where it was before
[02:09:20] <PetefromTn_> so now I am making a whole new turbo manifold for the car
[02:09:26] <furrywolf> zee has that problem too.
[02:09:39] <PetefromTn_> it has to move the turbo forward and down quite a bit to clear
[02:09:52] <furrywolf> he stuck his up high
[02:10:28] <PetefromTn_> that is a BIG ass turbo man... I don't remember what model or size but it barely fits in the engine bay
[02:10:46] <furrywolf> I think he has two of them. :)
[02:10:55] <zeeshan-mill> theres lots of room in a rotary
[02:10:58] * furrywolf has never owned anything with a turbo
[02:11:22] <zeeshan-mill> but rotaries also like big ass turbos
[02:11:30] <furrywolf> when you're a redneck, rather than turbos, you add useful accessories like lift kits, swampers, locking differentials, gun racks, etc. :P
[02:11:33] <Wolf_> 2 out of 4 i have right now have turbos...
[02:11:40] <zeeshan-mill> Wolf_, diesels dont count!!!
[02:11:40] <zeeshan-mill> :P
[02:11:42] <zeeshan-mill> jk

[02:18:13] <PetefromTn_> Can't wait to see that car fire up
[02:18:17] <CaptHindsight> are they scared of blowers or something?
[02:18:22] <PetefromTn_> it is pretty awesome
[02:18:36] <PetefromTn_> blowers are parasitic....turbos are not
[02:18:51] <CaptHindsight> don't they want any power at lower rpm's?
[02:19:03] <PetefromTn_> but we just put a brand new Ecotec blown motor in a cobalt SS if that counts LOL
[02:19:07] <malcom2073> You don't race at low rpm
[02:19:24] <CaptHindsight> kids these days
[02:19:49] * furrywolf likes low-end power
[02:20:04] <PetefromTn_> the rotary motor actually makes reasonable power down low and a lot of it depends on the turbo setup how quickly it spools etc...
[02:20:18] <zeeshan-mill> nawwwwwwwwwwwwz
[02:20:19] <zeeshan-mill> !!!!!!!!!!11
[02:20:26] <zeeshan-mill> yea malcom you know the terms

[02:22:19] <furrywolf> my subaru really pulls... I used it and a few heavy chains to drag a chevy truck with flat tires up steep ramps onto a high trailer... :P
[02:22:26] <PetefromTn_> apparenlty some jamaican guys just built a 2 rotor motor that made 1200 HP this past week
[02:23:24] <CaptHindsight> I think that gap between '74 and the early 90's caused a complete change in car culture
[02:23:30] <CaptHindsight> the smog years

[02:47:47] <SpeedEvil> stabilised wood sticks?
[02:47:53] <CaptHindsight> the argument against steel toes is that if it's heavy enough it keeps the metal crushed on your toes
[02:47:57] <SpeedEvil> concerned about humidity?
[02:48:05] <CaptHindsight> vs bounces off
[02:48:10] <SpeedEvil> CaptHindsight: that seems like an argument against seatbelts too

[02:48:30] <Praesmeodymium> plastic caps were my answer, but thats because they do not make steel caps in y width
[02:48:31] <[cube]> i got some 'steel toe' boots from walmart, altho i'm pretty sure they're just hard resin i'd bet
[02:48:33] <furrywolf> CaptHindsight: I think the tests have shown that if it's heavy enough to do that, rather than bouncing, it'll crush your toes flat.

[02:51:27] <furrywolf> SpeedEvil: mostly for nail puncture protection on jobsites.
[02:51:49] <furrywolf> you have to have completely interlocking plates or nails will find a way through, which is hard.

[02:52:27] <Wolf_> nails in foot suck
[02:52:48] <SpeedEvil> steel belted tyres are quite nail resistant
[02:53:09] <SpeedEvil> I guess the question is how hard to you want to be able to stamp on a nail

And gcode runs properly, but via the live view moving the Y axis moves Z and Z moves Y. The issue with this is that when the machine is ref’d - since the tool end is not in the boundaries of the box- it tells me that op is larger

[21:19:06] <andypugh> Spent the evening taking the mill apart. It has three-times f-errored when running the same job. The final time I noticed a nasty smell and found that the Z axis motor was toasy-warm. (Spec says it should be good to 140C though, and the continued presence of skin on my hand attests to it being cooler than that)
[21:19:13] <Tom_L> i personally think it takes longer to draw in catia than in sw
[21:20:08] <andypugh> It turns out that my Z-axis ballscrew has seized. And the nut that holds it in is under the Y axis screw. And the Y axis screw is under the whole X axis..
[21:20:24] <Tom_itx> fun
[21:20:41] <Tom_itx> you wanted to rebuild it anyway right?

[23:34:41] <bobo> biker dress is 2 wraps of chain over sholder to wast
[23:35:10] <roycroft> i wear steel toe boots when it's prudent to do so, and not a moment longer
[23:35:21] * furrywolf suggests zeeshan adopt a similar attitude towards footwear. :P
[23:35:26] <roycroft> birkenstocks are my standard footware during the tear-up-the-roads season
[23:35:52] <roycroft> and during the rainy season i wear whatever is comfortable and seems appropriate at the time
[23:36:09] <MattyMatt> buy boots one size too large, and then it's only sparks that can cause discomfort
[23:36:09] <Sync> the more important question is, has the 246 block sustained damage zeeshan?
[23:36:16] <zeeshan> no
[23:36:20] <zeeshan> its perfectly fine
[23:36:21] <zeeshan> :(
[23:36:23] <Sync> good.
[23:36:37] <Wolf_> http://rampart-hydro.com/projects/parking-garages-and-buildings/
[23:36:55] <zeeshan> furrywolf: only in the garage.
[23:37:03] <Wolf_> I worked the Kennedy Center job
[23:37:24] <furrywolf> there's rarely a reason not to wear steeltoes.
[23:37:33] * furrywolf is wearing them right now, just to IRC! :P
[23:37:39] <roycroft> they're heavy and seaty and uncomfortable
[23:37:47] <roycroft> wear them when your toes might get injured
[23:37:56] <roycroft> take them off otherwise
[23:38:03] <MattyMatt> dip chips on the carpet
[23:38:13] <MattyMatt> nowhere is safe
[23:38:21] <roycroft> they are also not very fashionable
[23:38:31] <roycroft> there is no such thing as risk elimination
[23:38:33] <furrywolf> we have different ideas of fashion. :P
[23:38:37] <roycroft> risk is all about mitigation
[23:38:50] -!- Miner_48er has quit [Quit: Leaving]
[23:39:21] <roycroft> any time someone says they can eliminate risk, run away from that person as fast as you can
[23:39:33] <Sync> I remember when we were loading stuff and a friend of mine was moving the car and suddenly I could not move
[23:39:43] <Sync> because the car was on my foot
[23:40:14] <MattyMatt> http://aelida.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/doc-martens.jpg
[23:40:31] <roycroft> and you were wearing safety shoes/boots and were uninjured?
[23:40:48] <MattyMatt> dunno if she's fashionable, but she thinks she is, and has safe toes
[23:41:36] <bobo> sure is built for faster than i can go

[23:42:37] <furrywolf> MattyMatt: having your laces untied is unsafe.
[23:42:51] <Sync> roycroft: yes
[23:42:53] <furrywolf> that girl is not setting a good example.
[23:43:16] <roycroft> ok
[23:43:21] <roycroft> and so, by extrapolation
[23:43:34] <roycroft> i should wear safety shoes when i'm bathing in case a car lands on my foot in the bathtub
[23:44:07] <roycroft> my neighbor could go geriatirc on me and drive her car through my bathroom wall while trying to park
[23:44:19] <roycroft> geriatric
[23:44:21] <furrywolf> no, it's for when your wife/girlfriend steps on your foot trying to get into the right position. :P
[23:44:32] <MattyMatt> I regularly sleep in mine. I'm on fire watch
[23:44:39] <MattyMatt> momma be geriatric
[23:45:18] <roycroft> i wear birkenstocks in my shop when doing some things
[23:45:29] <roycroft> i wear running shoes in my shop while doing other things
[23:45:38] <roycroft> and i wear steel-toed boots in my shop when doing yet other things
[23:48:33] <furrywolf> I don't own birkenstocks nor running shoes.
[23:48:40] <furrywolf> useless footwear. :P
