[14:54:59] <leogermani> hi all.. anyone ever had to filter the display of markers on the screen? Im doing this using layerGroups but I wanted more flexibility.. Ive posted a question about this on the forum, if anyone would like to talk about it, it would be great, cheers
[14:57:44] <b_b> if your markers are generated form a geosjson file you can do it easylly leogermani
[14:58:38] <b_b> there is a filter option for L.GeoJSON now
[14:59:28] <leogermani> b_b: how is that? GeoJSON format allows me to add individual attributes for each marker? and then filter by those attributes?
[14:59:52] <b_b> yes, exactly
[15:00:35] <b_b> you can add some personnals properties to items that represents markers in the geojson file
[15:04:56] <leogermani> b_b: cool, Im reading he json specs now and will try it out.
[15:05:41] <b_b> feel free to look at this tuto : http://leaflet.cloudmade.com/examples/geojson.html
[15:06:07] <leogermani> b_b: any thounghs on if it will be a problem to have many values for the same property? e.g. point1 cmay have property ccategory set to both a and b
[15:06:16] <leogermani> b_b: I was already there!
[15:06:58] <b_b> you just have to stay in geosjson specs
[15:07:04] <b_b> that's the only thing to do
[15:07:14] <quietkillah> hi i need some help, i got an issue with making polylines in my layergroup not clickable... any one knows what i'm missing here? http://d.pr/n/6atS

[15:34:13] <b_b> ask your question todda
[15:34:34] <b_b> if someone can help you, he will do
[15:35:18] <todda> I have a couple. One: I have a huge vector layer (600k ploygons) that I want to overlay. What's the most efficient way to do this? (Can I tile a vector layer?)
[15:36:05] <todda> Two: Can I load in two layers (e.g. satellite and road map) and then switch their visibilities as a user zooms in and out (ala Bing)?
[15:37:22] <b_b> 2 : yes it's possible
[15:37:33] <b_b> you just have to check the zoom change event
[15:37:45] <Komzpa> 1: https://github.com/mdaines/cover
[15:37:49] <b_b> and do your stuf when user reach the zoom you want to
[15:39:16] <todda> Is there any sample code to do this, b_b?
[15:40:05] <Santolina> hi, does anyone know about online example of leafletjs loading user selected wms layers? I cannot figure out which url to use, since the one used in the API example is not working, so I cannot compare it to the wms servers I would like to try
[15:51:12] <Santolina> or any online examples of leafletjs used for loading wms ??
[15:52:29] <b_b> is the thing you're looking for Santolina ?
[15:52:31] <b_b> http://leaflet.cloudmade.com/reference.html#tilelayer-wms
[15:54:37] <br14> Santolina: http://131.156.8.107/NIULeaflet/wmsexample.htm
[15:54:53] <Santolina> thanks b_b , thats the example I mention: the wms url in it does not work (http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/cgi-bin/wms/nexrad/n0r.cgi) so in fact I cannot make the example running; so I am looking for more examples
[15:55:00] <br14> works for today, probably not tomarrow ;)
[15:55:08] <Santolina> thanks br14, gonna check
[15:58:10] -!- wboykinm has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[15:59:18] <Santolina> br14, the wms url in your example is the same url I should use for passing a GetCapabilities request to that wms server?
[15:59:33] <Santolina> that's where I get lost
[16:00:14] -!- geo01005 has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
[16:01:24] <br14> sure .. http://131.156.8.107/NIUWFS/Request.aspx?service=WMS&request=GetCapabilities
[16:01:42] <br14> you don't need to do any of that for basic leaflet usage though
[16:05:49] <br14> (also beware the url has "WFS" in it, this is due only to my not paying attention, there is no WFS service there)
[16:07:23] <Santolina> OK thanks! and does Leaflet assume the server supports a certain SRS when making requests to the wms server?

[16:14:43] -!- sumpfralle has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
[16:16:31] <br14> I'd guess the srs of the map object? Its probably in the doc

[16:19:31] -!- tjb1 has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
[16:26:06] <Santolina> for example, I am trying this wms http://131.156.8.107/NIUWFS/Request.aspx ... but chrome javascript console shows leaflet tries to request EPSG:3857 for some reason (so the server sends back an XML message instead of an image)
[16:27:00] <Santolina> sorry, I put the wrong url ... obviously! :)
[16:27:32] <Santolina> mixed my code with yours
[16:29:07] <Santolina> this is the one I am trying: http://ovc.catastro.meh.es/Cartografia/WMS/ServidorWMS.aspx
[16:30:17] <Santolina> and this is the error: Resource interpreted as Image but transferred with MIME type text/xml: "http://ovc.catastro.meh.es/Cartografia/WMS/ServidorWMS.aspx?service=WMS&request=GetMap&version=1.1.1&layers=CONSTRU,LIMITES&styles=&format=image/png&transparent=true&height=256&width=256&srs=EPSG:3857&bbox=-839584.3186843758,5310233.229027765,-839278.5705712351,5310538.977140905".
[16:30:44] <Santolina> looks like the wms does not support the srs being requested by leaflet ... any ideas?
[16:31:34] -!- Adventsparky has quit [Quit: KVIrc 4.1.3 Equilibrium http://www.kvirc.net/]
[16:38:00] <Santolina> perhaps leaflet does only support wms-c servers?

[16:54:22] <br14> perhaps you can configure the wms server to support that coordinate system?
[16:55:18] -!- syyl_ws_ has quit [Quit: Verlassend]
[16:56:33] <br14> I had to configure my server with the coordinate systems I wanted to support
[17:01:30] <Komzpa> Santolina: which srs does your server support?
[17:08:44] <quietkillah> hi i need some help, i got an issue with making polylines in my layergroup not clickable... any one knows what i'm missing here? http://d.pr/n/6atS
[17:14:04] <br14> whats happening? is there an error?
[17:20:46] <Santolina> br14, Kompza, the fact is that I do not configure the wms server ... I am just trying to use some public wms servers, with no luck; I assumed it would be enough with any wms which supports EPSG:4326 but for some reason leaflet is requesting 3857
[17:21:40] -!- quietkillah has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
[17:22:47] -!- RussianKid has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[17:24:17] <Komzpa> Santolina: web maps are shown in 3857
[17:25:11] <Santolina> so you mean I can only use wms which support 3857 ... at least I have an answer
[17:25:55] <Santolina> thanks Kompza, then I wonder why so many public wms do not serve 385

[17:28:51] -!- grayb [grayb!~grayb@ima-colo.iquest.net] has joined #leaflet
[17:29:00] <Santolina> but wait ... this one has finally worked! oddly, it says it only supports 4326: http://www.ign.es/wms-c/ign-base?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMSc
[17:29:13] <grayb> Greetings. does leaflet support an SVG image as a layer?
[17:29:52] <grayb> I tried to put one together, and my SVG blocks out any layer below it, regardless of opacity

[17:50:53] <Komzpa> Santolina: getcapabilities doesn't have to announce all the capabilities
[17:53:01] <Santolina> thanks Kompza ... but so there is no way to predict which public wms I can add as layers to my leaflet implementation? Or is there any other workaround?
[17:54:35] -!- maximilian_h has quit [Client Quit]
[17:54:50] <Komzpa> Santolina: in theory you can request 4326 and show as 3857 but that needs hacky stuff on leaflet side, haven't checked whether it's in the core
[17:58:06] -!- RussianKid has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds]
[17:58:44] <Santolina> if I understand, I could try to make i.e. a PHP script which works as a bridge between leaflet and any wms, right? ... but this means my script should be able to convert coordinates between both systems. Is this what you meant?
[17:59:04] <Komzpa> Santolina: no, you can do that even in js
[17:59:31] <Santolina> at client side, so?
[18:00:06] <Santolina> any js libraries for this conversion?
[18:00:34] <Komzpa> Santolina: leaflet?:)
[18:00:55] <Komzpa> that's only the matter of computing tile names.

[19:57:26] <Guest59747> How do I disable the zooming?
[19:59:13] <Guest59747> I tried L.Control.Zoom = false;
[19:59:52] <chillly> If you don't want any zoom, try setting minZoom and maxZoom on the map variable to the same value perhaps
[20:01:10] <chillly> also set touchZoom, scrollWheelZoom, doubleClickZoom and boxZoom all to false
[20:03:01] <chillly> Not tried any of this, except turning off scrollWheelZoom which is very handy.
[20:03:11] <Guest59747> nice thanks the minZoom maxZoom worksout but the controls still show
[20:04:21] <chillly> set zoomControl to false so that doesn't show
[20:04:36] <chillly> on the map object
[20:04:52] <Guest59747> chilly: amazing thanks that did all the trick
[20:05:01] <chillly> no problem
[20:05:31] <Guest59747> the other thing I've not been able to figure out how to do yet is I'm on level 4 zooming and trying to get the name of the state abbreviation displayed, right now they don't show up on that zoom level
[20:05:43] <Guest59747> what would I use to draw/text inside states boundaries on the map
[20:05:57] <chillly> that's on the map tiles - nothing to do with Leaflet
[20:06:14] <chillly> You would need to find a different set of tiles, or render your own
[20:06:35] <Guest59747> So I shouldn't find a way to write them over the map with leaflet?
[20:07:12] <chillly> i guess you can draw text. you can draw polygons etc. I'll take a look omp
[20:08:26] <chillly> i can't see an obvious way to write text as a layer. There might be a plugin
[20:09:14] <Guest59747> you mentioned changing map tiles or render my own
[20:09:20] <Guest59747> how do you do this?
[20:09:46] <chillly> take a look at http://switch2osm.org
[20:09:58] <chillly> I like tilemill a lot
[20:10:52] <chillly> Maperative is interesting to
[20:11:17] <Guest59747> awesome thank you will take a look at these now
[20:12:44] <chillly> tiles for USA at a low zoom level would be small disk space, but for high zoom level would be enormous
[20:13:48] <Guest59747> ya it looks like, I just need it at zoom 4 for usa
[20:14:26] <Guest59747> I don't get it who pays for hosting this when you use leaflet server?
[20:14:46] <Guest59747> If I have a site with millions of hits who's paying for the bandwith
[20:14:55] <Guest59747> WHen I'm streaming from leaflet

[20:16:48] <chillly> The tiles come from your tile provider. The JS library (leaflet can come from leaflet, but that is a bad idea.I ALWAYS copy libraries to my own website so when the version changes on Leaflet my site still works with the version I've tested.
[20:20:42] <chillly> If you have a very popular web site or especially a mobile app, and you use OSM tiles you will fall foul of the tile usage policy. You can use MapQuest Open tiles freely. They are based on OSM data but with their own style.
[20:20:58] <chillly> Still no state names at z4 :(
[20:27:01] <Guest59747> :/

[21:32:09] <crazee> I am getting this error: Couldn't autodetect L.Icon.Default.imagePath, set it manually.
[21:32:22] <crazee> What am I doing wrong, and how do I set it manually?

[22:11:22] <Santolina> for some reason my map cannot zoom beyond level 18 once I have used map.setView(center, xxx) ... no matters if xxx is 15, 18 or 20; when I use the mouse later on, map will never let me zoom beyond 18 again; what am I doing wrong?
[22:12:39] <Santolina> btw, when creating the map object, I have already set maxZoom: 20

[22:16:47] <ybon> the TileLayer also have a maxZoom, if I'm correct
[22:21:51] <Santolina> ybon you mean I should add something like mylayer.options.maxZoom = 20;
[22:22:10] <ybon> yes, something like this ;)
[22:22:29] <Santolina> I had already done that ... but I have several layers, not sure if I should do this for all of them?
[22:22:46] <Santolina> one of them has no tiles for zoomlevel 20
[22:23:03] <ybon> http://leaflet.cloudmade.com/reference.html#tilelayer
[22:23:20] <ybon> Santolina: this is why the maxZoom is also on the tilelayer
[22:23:23] <ybon> because each one has its own rules ;)
[22:24:09] <Santolina> thanks, gonna try again
