[02:20:07] <skunkworks> Tom_itx: what?
[02:21:29] <Tom_itx> all the problems i was having
[02:21:44] <skunkworks> Tom_itx: did you figure the errors you where getting yesterday?
[02:22:01] <Tom_itx> i reversed the logic on my pendant buttons
[02:22:01] <Tom_itx> i had pulldowns and active high buttons
[02:22:14] <skunkworks> great
[02:22:16] <Tom_itx> the 7i43 also had active pullups
[02:22:19] <Tom_itx> so i fixed it
[02:22:32] <skunkworks> noise was the main issue?
[02:22:42] <Tom_itx> the pullups were fighting each other
[02:22:45] <skunkworks> ah
[02:23:06] <Tom_itx> but i originally had a reason for doing it i just can't remember what it was
[02:23:23] <Tom_itx> initially my spindle would run on startup but something along the way has seemed to fix that
[02:23:58] <Tom_itx> i haven't run any parts yet but i think it's alot better at least
[02:24:41] <Tom_itx> i eliminated my pendant code last night and it ran parts fine
[02:24:51] <Tom_itx> so i'm sure this was the issue

[16:24:18] <Connor> 1/4-20 in 3/8" thick alumn. I tried it at 1000 and 1500RPM. No coolant, no lube..
[16:24:19] <PetefromTn> and...?
[16:24:24] <Connor> worked.
[16:24:30] <PetefromTn> excellent!!
[16:24:31] <Connor> but, my spindle bogged down a little.
[16:24:34] <PetefromTn> why so fast?
[16:24:43] <Connor> torque.
[16:24:52] <PetefromTn> or lack thereof?
[16:24:57] <Connor> yup.
[16:25:15] <Connor> I might need to turn the torque pot up on my spindle speed controller..
[16:25:22] <PetefromTn> did you like the spiral fluters..
[16:25:29] <Connor> Yea. I did.
[16:25:33] <syyl_ws_> the question is, why not that fast?
[16:25:37] <PetefromTn> why no lube?
[16:25:55] <Connor> I dunno. :)
[16:25:59] <Connor> Cause I could.
[16:25:59] <syyl_ws_> thats a good question :D
[16:26:00] <PetefromTn> LOL
[16:27:59] <Connor> That's about all I managed to do yesterday..
[16:31:49] <Connor> I would like to get 4-40, 6-32, 8-32 and 10-24 and then the metrics too
[16:32:02] <syyl_ws_> i finaly got a iso40 taper spindle for my mill :D

[20:45:51] <Tom_itx> i know what's on the rx tx 1 & 0 pins and i can free those up
[20:46:27] <Tom_itx> also what i don't know is if you use RX0 /RX0 or RX0 RX1
[20:46:58] <Tom_itx> i may have my sserial lines doubled up in the file if i use the inverted pin set
[20:47:08] <Tom_itx> so i may not need RX TX 1

[22:18:14] <micges> insert where you want it and lines count must be unchanged
[22:18:18] <Tom_itx> but the io i need to use have functions that take up more than just the one io pin
[22:18:30] <Tom_itx> because of the 7i47 layout
[22:18:48] <Tom_itx> 4 is ok but 20 may not be
[22:19:14] <Tom_itx> what to put in place of the PWMBDirPin?
[22:19:21] <Tom_itx> if i use PWMAOutPin
[22:19:44] <micges> hold on
[22:19:50] <micges> what board is it?
[22:19:51] <Tom_itx> at io 20 & 21
[22:20:01] <Tom_itx> this is a 7i43 driving a 7i47
[22:21:06] <Tom_itx> and those pins are where the RX TX 0 and RX TX 1 pins fall
[22:21:12] <Tom_itx> on the 7i47
[22:21:44] <Tom_itx> (i'm pretty sure)

[22:26:28] <toudi_> ok, where you want your sserial?
[22:26:46] <Tom_itx> so i think i would just assign the unused pins as NullTag
[22:26:56] <Tom_itx> as the alternate function so they will be mapped as gpio
[22:27:06] <Tom_itx> RX0 TX0
[22:27:14] <Tom_itx> i really only need one sserial
[22:27:38] <Tom_itx> those are IO pins 4 & 20
[22:28:16] <Tom_itx> but i'm not sure what all that QCountQAPin stuff is
[22:28:31] <Tom_itx> or how many pins are affected by each instance of it
[22:28:44] <Tom_itx> those would all need to be assigned NullTag
[22:28:51] <Tom_itx> as gpio

[22:30:48] <Tom_itx> i took a standard 7i47 one and modded it
[22:31:01] <Tom_itx> as you see in the link
[22:31:15] <Tom_itx> added sserial at the top and removed a dummy entry
[22:31:17] <micges> what stuff you will connct to 7i47
[22:31:33] <Tom_itx> 7i48? i think it is
[22:31:38] <Tom_itx> 7i84
[22:32:09] <Tom_itx> pcw_home was talking about it with me yesterday i think it was
[22:32:16] <micges> what else?
[22:32:28] <Tom_itx> all the other io is used
[22:32:40] <Tom_itx> as the standard functions for a 7i47 are mapped
[22:32:47] <micges> ok
[22:33:27] <micges> then
[22:33:33] <Tom_itx> all the stepgen are
[22:33:41] <Tom_itx> or at least the pins are reserved for
[22:33:52] <micges> you must use one encoder line input for RX
[22:34:30] <Tom_itx> is that what QCountTag is?
[22:34:47] <micges> yes its encoder line
[22:35:08] <Tom_itx> at the I/O 04 line
[22:35:10] <Tom_itx> i get that
[22:35:34] <micges> you could use index if you don't use it
[22:35:41] <Tom_itx> isn't the I/O 05 line associated with it?
[22:35:46] <Tom_itx> no i can't
[22:35:56] <Tom_itx> because of how the 7i47 rx tx are mapped
[22:36:33] <Tom_itx> i can't just grab any of the free io
[22:36:46] <Tom_itx> only certain ones that are mapped to the RXx TXx pins
[22:37:00] <Tom_itx> and that one i can free up pretty easy

[22:43:29] <Tom_itx> i presume 3

[22:44:42] <Tom_itx> dont' I?
[22:45:02] <pcw_home> You can chose only the pins that you need (so if you have an encoder you may just use A and B or perhaps A only)
[22:45:18] <Tom_itx> so it won't affect the other functions?
[22:45:23] <micges> http://pastebin.com/2RNmmxVv
[22:45:44] <micges> should work
[22:45:51] <pcw_home> QCountA is a quadrature counter A input
[22:46:10] <Tom_itx> ok
[22:46:17] <Tom_itx> so a b and x are all associated
[22:46:20] <Tom_itx> as i thought
[22:46:53] <Tom_itx> but i'm not using the alternate functon on those pins so should i assign them as NullTag?
[22:47:25] <pcw_home> null tag is for pins that are GPIO only (no secondary function)
[22:47:43] <Tom_itx> well if i interrupt the A on the quadrature it's not really gonna function right

[23:09:18] <atom1> why would i need to change those then?
[23:10:03] <pcw_home> you need to change the instances (from 4 to 3) as you have removed one encoder counter
