[13:58:19] <WillenCMD> no its under way, i have enhanced the latency testing
[13:58:31] <JT-Shop> cool
[13:58:38] <archivist> any idea when the Barber Coleman type S hobbers were made?
[13:58:55] <WillenCMD> wow i would say 1960's or before
[13:59:10] <WillenCMD> i never got you that manual, and we do have some for the s-machine
[13:59:34] <archivist> I was wondering if the manuals had dates in :)
[13:59:49] <WillenCMD> they are antique's my friend lol
[14:00:35] <WillenCMD> i could send you so many hob's that are worn down, you would have every pitch
[14:00:51] <archivist> antique! looks shiny http://www.collection.archivist.info/archive/DJCPD/PD/2012/2012_08_31_Barber_Colman_S_type/IMG_1340.JPG
[14:01:23] <WillenCMD> wow, man its looking really good
[14:01:42] <archivist> and the other pic in that subdirectory
[14:02:29] <WillenCMD> do you need drive gears?
[14:02:39] <archivist> been thinking about best way to cnc without any drilling into castings so can be returned to original
[14:03:15] <WillenCMD> honestly i think they work pretty effeciently the way the are, what do you think you will gain?
[14:03:16] <archivist> I have no gears and only a few hobs to fit that shaft
[14:03:41] <WillenCMD> i have tubs full of old hobs, and boxes, and boxes of gears
[14:03:42] <archivist> I gain helical as well as any tooth count
[14:04:04] <WillenCMD> thats true
[14:04:13] <archivist> although head rotation is limited
[14:04:45] <WillenCMD> Ill ask my dad if i can have some of the stuff we have laying around. Box it up and send it to you, you just pay for shipping
[14:05:11] <archivist> getting the worm in the drive set up will be fun to keep its accuracy
[14:05:22] <WillenCMD> they buy all kinds of stuff, then again we have16 hobbing machines, 5 gleasons, 3 S-machines
[14:05:45] <archivist> I didnt know what the adjuster screws did till I got it to pieces !
[14:05:57] <WillenCMD> does it feel worn at all?
[14:06:19] <archivist> not very worn if at all
[14:06:30] <WillenCMD> thats good, what about the bearings?
[14:06:38] <archivist> adjustable
[14:06:51] <WillenCMD> sleeve type or angular contact?
[14:07:21] <archivist> sleeve but with a slit and outer taper and a pull nut
[14:07:41] <WillenCMD> that was the first machine i learned to set up... so i think its crazy you have it
[14:08:12] <archivist> not taken the bearings out but seen in lathes etc so used to the type
[14:08:28] <WillenCMD> i wonder if you could raise the head for larger od's
[14:09:10] <WillenCMD> i think your limited on clearance at the arbour though
[14:10:09] <archivist> the casting is all one piece
[14:10:47] <archivist> if I made a new assembly then yes
[14:12:44] <archivist> part of me thinks the restoration is too nice to cnc :)
[14:13:24] <archivist> I wonder what the cheapest shipping of a box of gears would be

[14:15:16] <Tom_itx> to make something like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/blddk/7272427056/in/photostream

[14:17:49] <WillenCMD> standard pitch, long addendum

It basically has a start page with several different buttons, one allows you to configure/tune stepper's or servo's, then an auto net program will display the loaded pins and components and you just click on two pins click auto net, it will then either name the net on its own your you can name the signal your self, 3 is a hal comp ide basically, drag

[19:04:18] <jthornton> I think for now I'll concentrate on trying to finish gui6, the doc builder is so picky it ain't funny and it takes me quite a while to add a master doc
[19:05:03] <cncbasher> yea sure it was just thoughts
[19:06:48] <jthornton> good idea, just very time consuming to add anything
[19:07:00] <jthornton> and frustrating when it won't build
[19:07:46] <jthornton> if you see any typos or mistooks let me know
[19:07:56] <cncbasher> will do

[20:19:19] <Tom_itx> actually it's about half the depth of a M4 tap drill size
[20:19:28] <Tom_itx> that's what i figured it with
[20:19:28] <Skullworks> filament drive for a rep-rap?
[20:19:32] <Tom_itx> yessir
[20:21:26] <Skullworks> someday I'll finish the one I started...
[20:22:26] <jp__> tom_itx: nice job!!

[20:24:02] <Tom_itx> unless it's fun
[20:24:22] <jp__> Did you use a tap to do that?
[20:24:26] <Skullworks> Well my plans for today got cancelled due to a flat tire on the truck, and tire stores are all closed for the Holiday.
[20:24:55] * Jymmm hands Skullworks some duct tape
[20:25:03] <Jymmm> Skullworks: no spare?
[20:26:49] <Skullworks> an 18yr old bicycle tire type - it got me home - but I don't want to put any loads on it. - And the plans for today included moving the bullet casting machine and about 1300lbs of lead.
[20:27:20] <Jymmm> oh donut spare
[20:28:06] <Skullworks> Truck is a 96 - and its the original OEM spare - OK 16 years old...
[20:28:29] <Skullworks> my how time ( and the miles) fly
[20:29:36] <Skullworks> I am hunting down a OEM steel rim to keep a real spare, just have not found the time as yet.
[20:30:16] <Jymmm> craigslist?
[20:31:02] <Skullworks> the CL search engine gives you results for everything but what you really want.
[20:31:21] <Jymmm> toss up a WANTED ad
[20:31:40] <Jymmm> It's how I got my Honda EU2000i generator
[20:32:15] <archivist> can I put a wanted ad for money
[20:32:23] <Skullworks> I do hunt CL when I am trapped at work having to kill time ( can not update servers till 830pm when reports have finished...)
[20:32:58] <Jymmm> archivist: sure, but it's CL... So there's no telling what you have to do for it
[20:33:33] <Skullworks> I'm sure someone may have some confederate notes they might make you a deal on...
[20:35:34] <Skullworks> US has bills in rainbow and regular - mexico has 2 sets of notes out too - gets kinda confusing.
