[19:01:17] <rogerer> Hi guys, need some help with my setup. Running Gecko G540, and my motors tend to not turn on low speeds. This come and go. Anyone got a solution on hand?
[19:02:03] <rogerer> The steppers are running in air (no load). They are Keling steppers.
[19:07:37] <jmk-wvm> my EMC workshop project: http://jmkasunich.com/pics/pcbmill-table-2937.jpg
[19:09:16] <archivist> thats come on nicely
[19:09:41] <geo01005> Very good looking :)
[20:14:25] <Jymmm> jmk-wvm: How long have you been designing that for ?
[20:15:51] <Jymmm> looks good btw
[20:21:12] <Jymmm> * Jymmm hands BigJohnT two pigeons - gotta be faster than dialup =)
[20:22:12] <BigJohnT> so long as they don't sit on the string from here to the road
[20:22:30] <Jymmm> lol
[20:22:39] <BigJohnT> how can I open a RAR compressed file?
[20:22:56] <archivist> * archivist uses winrar
[20:23:09] <BigJohnT> in linux or windows
[20:23:20] <Jymmm> z7
[20:23:23] <archivist> which keeps on working past the 30 days
[20:23:37] <archivist> thats on windaz
[20:23:37] <Jymmm> BigJohnT: what platform?
[20:23:47] <BigJohnT> linux
[20:24:40] <Jymmm> http://tips.webdesign10.com/how-to-open-a-rar-file-in-linux
[20:24:49] <tom3p> unrar is available on linux and 7zip might be ( it includes rar )
[20:25:33] <archivist> http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
[20:25:53] <Jymmm> sudo apt-get install unrar
[20:26:05] <BigJohnT> I found it in the package manager
[20:32:04] <BigJohnT> :/ unrar is not available
[20:34:25] <jepler> you have to enable "multiverse" in the package manager, because unrar has some kind of restriction that makes it non-Free software
[20:36:16] <BigJohnT> thanks jepler
[20:47:49] <Goslowjimbo> Is there a summary of activities of the Fest yet?
[20:49:32] <archivist> http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?EMC_Fest_2009
[20:49:43] <alex_joni> BigJohnT: maybe even mc works for unpacking rar's
[20:53:34] <BigJohnT> alex_joni: unrar did it for me
[21:01:41] <BigJohnT> * BigJohnT waddles off to sandblast some tractor parts
[21:01:47] <tom3p> mc is a front end, it needs unrar, lzh, etc installed and needs be told where they are
[21:04:47] <geo01005> It has been relativity quite today, whats is the deal, Everyone have to work today to make up for the holiday?
[21:04:48] <jmk-wvm> Jymmm: designed the table over a 2-3 week period, around slides that I already had, and a nice 3/4" 2024 plate that I found online at a nice price
[21:05:10] <jmk-wvm> Y will be a gantry, but that isn't designed yet
[21:08:24] <jmk-wvm> the table was machined on this EMC2 powered machine
[21:08:28] <jmk-wvm> http://www.anderswallin.net/2007/08/dah-lih-emc2-conversion/
[21:41:18] <Jymmm> jmk-wvm: Ah, very nice. Might be cool to have video of the entire process step-by-steep, even if oyu have to time-lapse it later
[21:43:10] <jepler> I don't think any video was taken of it
[21:46:57] <Jymmm> its all good, for future ref
[21:48:27] <Jymmm> This just pisses me off.... For years I had a pair of rabbit-ears in a specific box. Now, decade later after knowing where it was, I an't find that damn things! and I know i didnt throw them out either.
[21:48:44] <Jymmm> and, can't even find twin-lead either!
[22:16:34] <tom3p> tie baby brother to the 70 ohm input, great antenna substitute. or get dick smith's co-tanga antenna ( old aussie joke using a coat-hanger )
[22:24:44] <jmk-wvm> Jymmm: video of what process? making the table?
[22:24:57] <jmk-wvm> that was many hours over three days
