* Jymmmm drops a pin... *** KaBoooooooooooooooooooom ***
what's up ?
* alex_joni listens to johnny cash ;)
just came back from a morning to the hospital for a check-up, all right
I sayd to anna to search for our question, since the sister seems very busy in these days
she's not going to work because she have to transfer from an home to another
k4ts is looking from her office now
I heard her some hour ago
found the microstepping driver at the end ?
no, i'm still working with my 1/16 stepping drive and i'm struggling at the finish line
morning. How is it going
alex_joni: do you know if the pid in emc is serial or parralell?
how do you mean that?
do the PID values effect each other or not. If you adjust the P does it have any effect on say the I ?
Did that make sense. serial is they effect each other - parralell they dont.
I guess parallel
although I never heard of such a thing ;)
definition I mean ..
I have been reading - and probably getting into trouble. :)
[12:42:47] <SkunkWorks> http://www.rcnassoc.com/Library/Control.htm
One of the places I read about it.
you'd have to ask jmk about very specifics..
He still scares me a little bit. :)
lol.. he can't harm you over a serial text interface
I don't know about that :)
there was a discusion about autotuning of the pid yesterday. I was just looking around.
alex_joni: have a minut ?
03flo-h 07HEAD * 10emc2/tcl/mini.tcl: better i18n
03flo-h 07HEAD * 10emc2/tcl/bin/ (5 files): better i18n
* alex_joni goes home
pid tuning huh skunk
Not yet - but maybe in a week or two.
can't wait. - yes I am a geek.
at some point someone had made a program within emc to do a little autotuning - I was talking yesterday about it.
I > we
Was told if I could come up with some info on it - it could be intigrated. But I am not sure I can wrap my head around it.
Les_w: How long did it take you to tune your gantry to your satisfaction?
hmmm - If I leave an high traphic site up (like #ubuntu) I don't get disconnectied :)
maybe the ping reply could be the reason
I'm not sure ..
I use $IPTABLES -A INPUT -i eth0 -p icmp --icmp-type echo-request -j ACCEPT
to accept external ping
If your FW is blocking the ping, then the cause could be that
after a bit freenode think you're not there and disconnect you
my firewall blocks pings and it works fine
you're probably right, I never tried IRC blocking pings ..
I just heard that maybe the server could disconnect some client not responding to pings
I use calvino.freenode.net, wonder is irc.freenode.net is the same thing
I'd check the lag parameters on the client too ..
hello K4ts :)
When you talk about 'ping' in the context of IRC, it's actually a message inside the IRC protocol, not an ICMP PING.
wow 1.7 seconds, thats higher than i would have thought
giacus quando sei in calabria non apri msn quando eri qui lo aprivi mah!
K4ts: darn msn :( I was using the laptop there ..
grr i cant find this stupid connector in either digikey or jameco
i'd settle for the standard RC car connector even if its not the right thing
ok.. now running bitlbee
I don't have any issues at home - I stay connected. but here if there is any inactivity - I disconnect pretty quick - doesn't matter if it is mirc or java
but there is a lot more traffic here
K4ts: is happy with Chatzilla firefox extension
I never have luck finding connectors that I want.
SkunkWorks: irssi is a nice client for Linux, in Windows I'd try emacs+erc too
+ gnus )
right now I am using the java client - just for ease. works well
java is sine, yeah, but I found it a bit heavy .. not for all days
but again, that's my personal point of view
giacus: I now read snippets of news about italy. All because of you.
see what you've gone and done
I don't need that kind of stress :)
reading the news is scientifically proven to be bad for you
it depend ..
i.e. not this: http://www.beppegrillo.it/english.php
today we got the new president here: Napolitano
its weird as in the US the president have lot of power and here not ..
very different politician system
I finally ordered some pcb engraving bits today.
I figure by the time I get back to the project they will be here.
Fenn: where abouts are you located?
anyone have much experience with the thk HSR rails?
SkunkWorks: south-central indiana
I'm wondering if these would be suitable for a Z-axis: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7616136113
or if you need more that 2 mounting points to keep it rigid enough.
fenn: your building a foam cutter?
i'm building a hexapod milling machine
i already have a really weak floppy dremel/xyz table
it can only cut styrofoam
bill203: why not ? I like it
maybe depend on the rest of the machine too
your're going to build
it's a gantry mill, intended for aluminum and softer materials.
ok i'm going nuts here trying to find a connector just _similar_ to this one: http://fenn.dyndns.org/pub/camera/DCP_0639.JPG
I'm mostly curious about whether the carriages are tight enough not to need 4 of them mounted in a square.
fenn: wasn't it hard to glue everything to the wall?
cradek: i dont understand
fenn: sorry, I was being stupid because the photo is sideways
did you start with some kind of table/bench or is it all purpose-built?
Fenn: very nice.
its made of 2x4's and black gas pipe, with skate bearings
have you tried to cut anything other than foam?
yes and failed miserably
it's regular old iron pipe?
was trying to face off some plastic to get it flat enough to engrave pcb's
yep, pipe is pretty accurate before they put the galvanizing on it
radiocrap actually has plugs similar to power supply connectors - 1,2,3, up to 9 contacts.
i'm just totally lost in digikey/jameco
i cant believe they wouldnt have these connectors but i just dont know how to find them
it's tough to find stuff when you dont know the proper name
its similar to an RC battery connector but the D-shape holes are pointing a different direction
but i cant even find an RC battery connector
mouser has some similar stuff called "molex plug and socket power connectors"
yes i saw that
cradek: do you mind me asking how you found that?
I used the categories - I think it was something like connectors, rectangular connectors, power connectors, pin and socket connectors
normally I'd have the catalog and I just flip through it, but not at work
also I'd heard "molex" before and quickly suspected that was the name for that style of connector
i should get some printed catalogs
mouser won't quit sending them once you ask for one, so be careful
now I use them for traction in the winter
would you mind bringing a couple to fest then?
2 inch thick catalogs - remind me of the computer shopper back in the day
sure, I'll bring my latest one for you if I can remember
I think they send a new one every quarter
you can also download a full catalog pdf if you can find the website link
jepler: I don't think that's true anymore
jepler: I looked for it a while back
that would be kinda pointless anyway
if the table of contents works, it might be nice
it doesn't seem to work for me in xpdf
it does work for me in acroread. I think it works in evince too.
[18:35:03] <jepler> http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=catalogdownloads
well, after all that i think i might just hack up some atx psu's and file them til they fit.. :\
atx connectors even
definitely bookmarked though
using the mouser catalog "table of contents" in evince: http://emergent.unpy.net/index.cgi-files/sandbox/mouser-catalog-evince.png
fenn: are the steppers just not strong enough?
on your xyz machine
its not rigid enough
well, that shows what I know
also, due to poor construction methods it doesnt quite return to the same position when you push on it kinda hard
so then what do you do with it :)
i dont push on it :)
cradek: I orderd some pcb mills from tinker.
should be here by the end of the week. maybe
cool, you'll like them
fenn: what the pictures I saw from you - show a press for making skate boards?
we made a sand mold and poured concrete over it
then you paint thinned wood glue on maple veneer and press it together for a couple days
trim on bandsaw and smooth the edges with a disk sander, nice board
we've only made like 3 boards because its quite time consuming
have they lasted?
they're a bit heavier than commercial boards, i think its because we use so much glue and dont press hard enough
why are there so damn many connector styles
We use maple plywood boards here for our die boards. tough shit
what does a die board do?
we laser cut the board - insert knives in the slots - that cuts out the decals.
like a cookie cutter?
bleh. sensor phasing woes.
yeehaw! hacked up atx connector works: http://fenn.dyndns.org/pub/camera/DCP_0640.JPG
brute force triumphs again
incredible.. found an hen died in my chicken run, was going to drink water in a bucket and can't get out with the head from there: drowned :(
K4ts: tomorrow chicken at lunch
does anyone know about any free software for programming pld's, microcontrollers, avr's and other programmable devices
Bo^Dick: for Linux ?
I thing gcc has native avr support now, but I dont know about actually writing it to the chip.
ava - Algebraical Virtual Assembler for Atmel's AVR MCU, avr-libc - Standard C library for Atmel AVR development, avra - Assembler for Atmel AVR microcontrollers, and others..
looking at apt-search avr
avrdude and another program whose name I forget can both program AVRs using the low-voltage serial method.
uisp isnt worth using
avrprog - Programmer for Atmel AVR microcontrollers
this can be done with nothing more than a parallel-port cable that brings 4(?) I/O lines to the AVR
you need: GND (not a signal per se), RESET, SCK, MISO, and MOSI
don't forget power, and a clock source (which may be internal to the chip)
what about this ? http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1824&appnote=en011997
giacus: doesn't look like there's current feedback anywhere in that circuit.
movlw 0x38 ;set Forward current in Winding1
doesn't it ?
looking at the pdf
look at page 17 figure 23
there's no current feedback
you just set the PWM duty cycle in % and hope the current is about what yo uwanted
I found this Current feedbacks from the motor windings are
converted to voltages by resistors R9 and R10,
connected to Pin 1 and 15 of U2. These feed-
backs are connected to AN1 (Pin 3) and AN3
hm maybe I was wrong
the nice thing is the source code available
wonder about the price ..
of the chip
the PIC chip is fairly inexpensive
I'm no good at reading PIC source code but I don't see where they actually use the AN1 and AN3 inputs
I looked at using a low-end AVR such as attiny2313 or atmega8, but the ADC is just too slow to provide a high chopping rate
this seems a new website to me: http://cstep.luberth.com/PStep.html
attiny2313 to generate microstepping waveform, l298 as h-bridge -- same bridge as they used for this PIC project
of course this pic takes serial input .. which is a completely terrible way to get coordinated motion in 3 axes
er, I think I meant attiny26
adc time 13 microseconds -> maximum "chopper" frequency 38.4kHz .. maybe it would be OK
(you have to alternately sample the two feedback voltages)
wow presidente della repubblica napoletano
berlusconi is black
I did a small banner with gimp: http://www.giacus.org/images/emc_stats.png
if anyone want to use it in personal website a link is welcome :)
K4ts: you sleeping ?
no I work
have a fun
I have close tv bleach
word word... end promise,unrealizable
I'd like to watch a film, but I'm going to be tired: 12 spot breaks in 30 minuts :/
they're flashing my mind
look for me stampanti?
I've no idea about the printer you should buy
they semms all the same to me
I just found the piece using the B/W laser
as inkjet colour I've no idea
anything you choose is bad ..
yo not have idea because you no look
buy a canon
stop to print after some year..
Canon and Epson are good. Don't look at the cost of the printer, as much as the cost for the ink.
INK == $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
especially if you do not print at least 1 page every day ..
HP can be $60 for ink
vorrei comprarne una per stamapre foto
Jymmmm: same here
e stampare le mie foto
quindi a colri
K4ts: all these printers are ok to print photos
K4ts I get REAL photos for $0.19/each
4" x 6"
you need the paper too for that
cio che dice Jymmmm
lui compra foto a circa 0.19 dollary per una
meno di 20 cents
REAL, not printer
in che senso compra?
Fuji Crystal Archive paper
se le fa stampare
cheap and good
ma io volevo fare anche t shirt
I never printed on t-shirt
The photo lab does t-shorts too
yes Jymmmm also a napoli
K4ts I think almost same price as printing yourself, except for nude photos or things you need instantly.
K4ts: if you think the cost of ink, paper .. could be cheap
t shirt capito
forse non vale la pena
per per carta colori ecc ecc
a good paper photo is expensive
and ink too
you'll never learn so :(
I started with 'hi'
K4ts Whine all you want but if you want to learn english, this is a good start as we will help you
K4ts Just learn one word at a time
one == uno
See... that's easy =)
she was using an estension in chatzilla
ùyes two = due
dunno why it stop to work ..
maybe she reached the max limit of translations/mounth
could be.. not sure
giacus youhave nude beaches in Italy don't you?
one or teo I guess
K4ts: You dont go to nude beaches?
hehe K4ts did you understand late ?
I really think K4ts hate nude beaches :P
giacus modesty or jealousy =)
anonimasu got it =)
yes jymmy only of night
I just come back from L.A. with some postcard
she immediately detroy it :(
Yep... jealousy =)
yes k4ts beat giacus
how ya doin anonimasu
nah.. she's to much intelligent for that
giacus: She hasn't found a place to bury the body is all =)
not too good
anonimasu what up? YOU pregnant?
just feeling a bit shitty
anonimasu: Not the gf/wife... *YOU*
there isnt one..
it would explain the shitty feeling
anonimasu I have the remains of the flu from last month still
I wish it were like that..
my last cigarette
K4ts get me some too
K4ts: the very last cigarette or just for this evening ?
hehe, you have to work tomorrow ?
almost late here: 01:01
yes day long tomorrow
btw, ask for an inkjet printer epson or canon or HP
Hp I see 190 euro
dont forget to ask if it work sing microstepping, servo + encoders or stepper
e 3200 bianco e nero
E. 190 seems a lot
is it gold ? :P
the cost is in the cartdriges, not the printer ..
choose a cheap printer and print one page every day :D
trash it after some year ..
if you want a printer to really print buy a samsung as the mine
[23:09:01] <K4ts> http://www.newprice.it/home.aspx?FID=13&PID=135411
I turn on it after 6 month and its ready to print
at E. 99
$200 USD color laser (refurb)
Jymmmm: the colour toner is expensive ..
but worth it if you print a lot of color documents/brochusres
B/W is ok for me ..
I'd like to find an old dot printer
never stop to print ! :D
uhhh 01 20
lol, mine worked perfectly, color too, but I gave it away and never used it.
tomorrow 06 30
a refill for my samsung ml1520 is E.20 here , 3000 pages
cartdrige is around E. 80 :(
damn it http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200605/200605040016.html
35 micromotors just on the face O_O
