I said logger off, not bugger off!
I just dont have much to say
I do wonder if the guy with the chatter problem got it fixed
he is right about the temp of his bp spindle
and this .040 doc is troubling, but it may just suit his application
cant find a schematic online for 5 phase stepper motors :(
they tend to require a 5 phase drive
I looked into them, but gave up, vextra right?
I think they tend to be a packaged deal, I may be wrong but I really think they are a drive/motor combo
it seem to be used for some application only, like potitioning telescope
ill try helping you search, you loking for the drive right?
[00:57:43] <gezr> http://www.pmsupplies.com/Tamagawa_AU9112.html
low price drive, havent seen a price yet though
i'm not sure abut the current..
this model i've is 2.6A/phase 0.67 ohm
seem a nice motor
you would probably want a matching drive from vextra for it then
I think they are pretty expensive things though
i bought it for E. 15 (used)
7 mounths ago..
anyway this is not so good for cnc use
i think ..
hmm, hold on
[01:06:47] <gezr> http://www.orientalmotor.com/in_motion/july_2004.htm
the idea behind the 5 phase is uber
if you could find a good drive for it, then heck yeah, I bet one could be made
with that diagram pretty much
but the logic would be a bit more involved
seems that a 5 phase motor can be more smooth
also great precision
[01:10:26] <gezr> http://www.orientalmotor.co.jp/cgi-bin/WebObjects/UPOMStep.woa/wa/F3?typeNameId=2&modelName=CFK5913HBT&frameSize=85&seriesId=FCF2
thats also an 800+oz motor
the mine is an old model ..
i cant find it on the web
A3530 - 9215
hmm, 290oz, with driver $475
FH7 - 1639
weight at lest 1 kg or more :\
seem very strong
any other numbers on it?
no idea.. what these nr mean
doesnt matter what they mean, im doing a search
cough phase drive cough
on top of label 5 PHASE STEPPING MOTOR
hey paul_c :)
investigating on a strange motor..
EMC can already do four phase drive, and there is a coment in the code suggesting that it could be extended to five phase
paul_c : with 5 phase using phase drive?
paul_c: nice, so i could use it someday..
Give LPG a nudge - He wrote the driver code....
* paul_c points at LawrenceG
i will buy a telescope :P
or maybe wait a gift ;P
paul_c : typical 5phase stuff is excluded because its price range, is pretty much inline with servos?
never used five phase steppers - Way too expensive (and I have servos...)
i think are made for different applications
right.. Time for bed.
les : are you watching?
gezr: this motor should be nice also for point sat antenna maybe
Jacky^ : oh yeah, you dont need a drive per say to make it whirl around
there are manual ways to position a stepper motor
but a gui from pc should be useful
to point a star, from software i mean
do you already have the 360deg worm wheels?
err, 360 tooth
the positing of the telescope?
i don't have nothing at the moment
it is just an idea
im in the same boat
Jymmm: how proceed the laptop jobs ?
Jymmm: running laptop ?
Jacky^: Ok, what about it?
how it work ?
Jacky^ : YOu mean w/o X?
already installed linux on it ?
Jacky^: Samba + putty + TkEMC running on windows.
Jacky^: KeyStick gui running on the laptop, TkEMC running on the other laptop
XOVER cable between them
you solved then with tkemc issue on windoze
if i remember well yoyu was having some issue..
When opening a file under TkEMC on windows, it opens up a local (nix) file system. Will just map a samba share to the proper location.
ah.. thats ok
oh and SCREEN too.
screen is nice
i always use it to run and resume remote jobs
I don't use it that often, but will do it's job in this respect in case the M$ box fubars.
very nice ;)
well, bedtime for me
4 auctions for some copley drives on ebay right now
one double unit for 75, the rest are below 40 each
servo drive, i have to go to bed now
Jymmmm is now known as Red70sShow
Red70sShow is now known as Jymmmm
Jymmmm is now known as Jymmm
how u doing Jacky^?
busy sanding down my one car
* alex_joni looks
* alex_joni pokes paul_c
* paul_c slaps alex_joni with a large cricket bat
* alex_joni ducks
oops... wrong addy
[14:02:58] <Yuga> http://www.myride.co.za/uno/1.jpg
you running IIS?
so what u think of the body kit?
Does anyone know Michael Moser ?
still trying to open
but it is opening?
paul_c: this one http://www.michaelmoser.org/content.htm
or this one http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/account/myprofile/26392
Yuga: it did eventually load
looks ok, probably better with paint on it ;)
[14:07:01] <paul_c> http://www.smart-elektronik.at/kontakt.htm
<- This one..
lol... it has paint on it:) but i guess primer doesnt count
emc based 6-axes controls
[14:08:08] <alex_joni> http://www.smart-elektronik.at/industrieelektronik.htm
english version ??? :P
Yuga: start learning foreign languages
english will deprecate at one point or another
german probably too
but you get the exersize to switch languages ;)
Spanish or Chinese will take over.
chinese is a good candidate
indian is also pretty wide-spread :D
paul_c: a bit pricey
2400 Eur for a 2.8 GHz box with emc installed, TFT and keyboard/trackball
but it looks nice ;)
* alex_joni thinks about paying them a visit sometimes in the future
methinks their mail system is borked.
* alex_joni goes home
at work, not much
seen the new machine I'm working on?
[19:25:20] <alex_joni> http://www.robcon.ro/emc/positioner/
what is it?
obviously a rotating thing
a 2 DOF table
for putting a workpiece on it
oh does the whole orange part rotate too?
and weld it with a robot
everything orange is moving parts
blue is static
what controlled it initially?
it's still controlled by that
not emc :(
it's a control made by cloos
there are some pics with the cabinet there, iirc
it's basicly a 486 controller
and some custom FPGA's that do traj & interpolation
so, what are you up to?
oh me? just work right now
last night I used my new (to me) lathe to make a pulley for my milling machine's spindle
got a lathe?
yeah a 6" atlas (WWII vintage I think)
* alex_joni finally has some hopes that emc might run a lathe someday
alex_joni: it's very old and used, but I can make parts the right size with it, which is all that counts
* paul_c grumbles about alex_joni's fiddling wih posemath.h
* cradek grumbles about all of paul_c's #ifdef droppings
can't recall touching posemath.h
[20:06:23] <alex_joni> http://www.patent2.de/end.htm
right... That's the latest axis cvs snapshot patched to compile against emc2 AND BDI-4
right now axis won't even compile against emc1 due to some gratuitous changes
in fact I've been meaning to post a news article on the axis website about that, but I don't know how to keep it from coming out sounding bitter
I would have prefered K.R. to mess things up in a branch...
leave HEAD as stable with/for bug fixes only.
perhaps it's as simple as teaching K.R. how to use branches with CVS?
Post something to emc-dev list.
that aside, Interested in this patch ?
we'd love to have AXIS building against BDI-4
OK, where do I send it ?
do you have it in patch format?
if not, just tell me the snapshot you compiled it against and I can make the diff myself easily
should do (I don't generally use -w)
it just igores whitespace.
if it works against the cradek_stable branch of emc1 I'll probably check it in after a quick review of the changes, otherwise I'll put the patch on the axis website download area
what's with the n= and i= anyway?
Just compiled against emc2 from today, and the BDI-4 sources I'm working with.
similar enough to the latest released bdi?
and does this mean that the next bdi 4.xx will have a new axis on it?
Putting a new release together - There has been a merging of some more sources between emc2 HEAD & BDI-4 branch.
[20:51:22] <paul_c> http://188.8.131.52/axis-20050816.dff
(think Dr on the Simpsons)
paul_c: the patch applied and it still builds against CRADEK_STABLE. Maybe I should run it though...
I hadn't got as far as running it... Still messing around building BDI-4 debs
paul_c: well it runs against CRADEK_STABLE, so I checked it in. The next nightly CVS snapshot will have your patch
paul_c: chris was just telling me about a change he made so that the "Zero Offset" button works properly...
it is only in branch CRADEK_STABLE now
it writes out the .var file whenever you change modes, and then the right offsets are used when you reload your file
otherwise when using offsets you get the wrong display
Will that be in tonght's snapshot ?
no, it's a change to emc, not to axis

"not a complex patch, and totally harmless (I think)" -- cradek
[21:25:35] <jepler_> http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/emc/emc/src/rs274ngc_new/rs274ngc_pre.cc?r1=1.10&r2=220.127.116.11&only_with_tag=cradek_stable&diff_format=u
OK.. That looks fairly trivial. I can merge that in without any ill effects.
paul_c: Could you add in a beer brewing patch as well?
paul_c: once you get the beer patch goin, then we can work on the tequilia module !
thats a good start!
les can test the -ENOMOONSHINE
