Strange, not much logged today :P
asdfqwega: probably crashed
the stpid logger won't reconnect in case of a netsplit
how's the tribo going?
hey some one sent me a link of a cnc spray painter
you have to see this:
[20:45:09] <les> http://www.hektor.ch/
there is only one thing I don't like about cnc spraying
and that's anti-ex
les: already seen that ;)
hektor .. pretty nice
I had not seen it
especially the price on the motors
yes it does
$200 for a 200 watt motor
I have 1.5kW motors on my robots
I have a cheap way out in my poor spray booth
I pressurize the room
make a hexapod like
fan is outside of explosive environment
but for the robot I will need anti ex
it is going to cost some
theta, radius, z
pick and place
ROFL.. Hektor, Graffiti for the artisticly challenged. :)
I got a kick out of it
radius and z I think hollow thomson shafts with rack
I don't need extreme accuracy
* alex_joni bought a nice pc today
but do need speed
2 x 966MHz Xeon
1 GB Ram
SCSI 2x9 GB
* asdfqwega drop his jaw
500W power supply
Yeow...where'd you get a nice buy like that?
a friend of mine
err.. was 100 EUR
so a bit more than 100$
but it's heavy
18 kg desktop
:P I should a good bit more than $100
I wonder what I should do with it
Give it to me :P~~~
not my dilemma right now
should I use it as a server or workstation
If it has the graphics, workstation
I was not on the computer much today
it has some shitty graphics card
in the spray booth
but dual monitor
asdfqwega: I already offered you a Dual P-II box (1 cpu/card) and you turned it down..
a lot of expansion slots
16 MB dual monitor? I guess 1600x1200 * 32BPP * 2 is just less than 16 megs
jepler: might be ;)
so replace the video
but I don't use 1600x1200
probably would be a good ideea
use it for CAD
my employer recently spoiled me with a 1600x1200 LCD display
my office box is 1.8 P4...about two thirds through it's useful life I guess
I still got my old 21" huge trinitron
I bought a nice Fujitsu SIemens 19" TFT
for about 400 EUR
I still use crts....liquid crystal etc does not have good enough color for art stuff
was thinking about placing 2 of those on my GeForce
les: recent one do
I'm considering a 17" 1280x1024 LCD for at home. I'd like one with pivot support, for reading PDFs
I was thinking the same
that FujitsuSiemens I bough.. oh man, the colors
a lot better than CRT's
though we tried out the rotation support for nvidia here at work -- the acceleration is lousy, it's quite slow.
pretty slow for games & such, but I don't do games
so I don't mind
* Phydbleep prefers Radius fullpage units.
heh.. this thing still works
* alex_joni is connected through pptp to his office lan
I got a nice modem today
I only do flight simulator...but not so much as a game...I try to keep pilot skills in practice
does 2.4 MBit
theoretically at least
EVDO is the technology called
it's like a cellular
not my network
I only connect to it
2.4 MBit is available only in big cities right now
but 250kbit is pretty much available anywhere
alex_joni: EU/Europe only though?
.ro is for sure
not sure about rest of europe
[21:08:50] <alex_joni> http://www.wirelessinternetcoverage.com/
Hi jacky^ :)
hey Phydbleep :-)
hey Phydbleep & jacky^
* alex_joni goes to bed
* SWPadnos reads the logs
les: have you seen the Eizo ColorEdge LCD monitors?
sorry was talking to paul
no I have not seen them
All I know is that color rendition in wallmart type lcd monitors is not good enough for artwork
they're about the best color you can get (CRT or LCD) for less than $10k
wal-mart = crap
I can get pretty good color tweeking a $150 CRT...
not good calibrated color
hate the giant box on the desk though.
I can calibrate it to some extent
aha -- when emc2 fails to run for some reason, the load increases by 1 until reboot
but anyway, I got axis to run on emc2 here at home
Sure - a reasonably cheap CRT can look pretty good - but I'm used to the requirements of pro photographers, so I'm picky :)
yeah...well I do all those Giclees and lithos and color separation things for my relative's art gallery
they are picky too
check out the clearance page at LaCie
ok I will google it
[21:54:41] <SWPadnos> http://www.lacie.com/products/clearance/products/?id=10010
calibration thing is neat
oops phone...someone coming to the shop
not an entirely wasted day then?
aw I was stuck n the spray booth
must make that robot
lets see now ..
before you couldnt make one due to the turkey call production ..
then you had a few mnths off ...
and is turkey call season nearly here again?
no...getting smarter...this is for next year
I need to build my powder coat booth
customer agreed to buy next year's stuff gradually now and hold the inventory
so regular slow prodcution instead of mad rush?
But still...I must not paint.
I am supposed to be designing spray guns...not using them!
For AXIS, is there some #define I can check for to tell emc2 vs emc1?
jepler, is there a how-to on getting axis 1.0 final to run on the BDI (4.20)?
A-L-P-H-A: No. Chris and I tried one day, but we couldn't get OpenGL programs to not crash the X server.
jepler, so what's the solution? ditch the BDI, and install some other distro?
A-L-P-H-A: Have you tried the version of axis that is included? Does it work for you? (it didn't for us)
meaning "doesn't crash or crash the X server or machine within a minute"
it starts, and then dies.
I was once able to get to the about screen.
but just freezes that thread... and I gotta kill it.
after getting emc2 working, I do intend to look at bdi4/emc1.5 again
reading is good... I finally figured out how to make a new page on wiki.linuxcnc.org
and in fact I've just checked in EMC2 support on AXIS HEAD
[22:43:49] <jepler> http://axis.unpy.net/index.cgi/downloads/nightly
how about EMC1.5 support?? :D
first I need to figure out where I can install bdi420 here at home
the last time, did I ask you whether "glxgears" runs?
you never asked.
command line app
runs a gl based test example
if that runs, other stuff stands a chnace
but emc is running in the backgroun
so the openGL instal lis probably OK at least
so .. I have a service engineer guy coming to look at the laser tomorow ... will be interesting to see if he knows more than I do ;)
robin_sz the inhouse guru
I hope he does know more than me ...
because there are bits I dont know ...
03paul_c 07NML_take_2 * 10emc2/src/ (5 files in 4 dirs): First stab at rationalising the NML messages - Comments in emc2.hh
on the machine where chris and I were playing with emc2, "glxgears" would reset the X server after about 2 seconds...
mmm .. I just bought some digital calipers on ebay ...
