[01:16:05] <andypugh> PCW: Reproducing faults can be so hard… In the day job customers keep literally melting engines. I can drain out all the water, put a car on the dyno with wind-speed fans turned off and run with my foot to the floor and still not manage to melt anything.

[01:37:50] <PCW> Hard to know what a realistic torture test requires
[01:40:31] <PCW> The eth-packet-loss branch is working well on the Zotax at 2 KHz at 50% read timeout (occasional bogus PID error spikes but it carries on without serious trouble)
[01:42:02] <PCW> so timing out on read and discarding the stale RX packet on the next cycle seem to be working correctly
[01:42:07] <jepler> I've been introducing packet loss with the iptables packet filter running on the linuxcnc machine
[01:42:24] <jepler> one of the commit messages describes how to set that up
[01:42:49] <PCW> I am just running the machine too fast :-)
[01:43:07] <andypugh> PCW: Yes, I can only assume that customers are somehow not hitting our safeguards but finding a corner of the variable space where they can still make enough engine heat.
[01:44:01] <andypugh> (we work in a 13 variable space with 5 noise factors, it’s mathematically intractable)
[01:44:54] <PCW> do the ECUs have any logging capability?

[01:48:04] <PCW> jepler: Looks really good, more robust by a large factor
[01:49:19] <PCW> probably should have a accumulated timeout and lost packet count for debugging purposes
[01:50:53] <PCW> might actually improve average performance as you can run a faster thread because occasional timeouts are not harmfull

[23:22:19] <skunkworks> pcw_home: are you around? Having some odd issues with the 7i69 I cannot figure out.
[23:24:24] <skunkworks> when the estop is out - the output stays true - while the opto22 input relay switches. (led goes on and off)
[23:27:06] <skunkworks> with the estop pushed in - the output goes false and it does toggle from false to true when the switch is clicked.
[23:27:34] <skunkworks> but I don't see anything that would be causing this
[23:27:58] <skunkworks> net xhome-switch <= hm2_7i80.0.7i69.0.1.input-00-not axis.0.home-sw-in net yhome-switch <= hm2_7i80.0.7i69.0.1.input-01-not axis.1.home-sw-in net zhome-switch <= hm2_7i80.0.7i69.0.1.input-02-not axis.2.home-sw-in

[23:30:46] <skunkworks> hmm - let me unhook the output-23
[23:34:43] <skunkworks> yes - so swithing the hm2_7i80.0.7i69.0.1.output-23 true/false/true - changes the inputs from the same card (even without the 23 relay in there)
