I have ER32 and ER20 holders here as well as endmill holders etc etc but I always thought the ER40's I have used were massive. I have also seen some of the flush holders where the nut is actually inside the face of the holder. Lots of tooling

[20:57:45] * seb_kuzminsky slowly lifts fingers form keyboard
[20:58:28] <zeeshan> lol
[20:58:45] <PCW> :-)
[21:01:21] <mozmck> PCW: we discussed the ability to have an "if pin exists" function for HAL files, and it was mentioned that there is HALTCL. I found that the /linuxcnc-dev/lib/hallib/xhc-hb04.tcl file has a function "pin_exists" which looks like it does just what we were talking about.
[21:02:28] <PCW> Yeah I need to learn about tcl hal files
[21:03:40] <mozmck> guess I need to learn some tcl myself. I'll know just enough of about 20 languages I won't be able to get anything to work!

[21:16:43] <PetefromTn_> I can sorta speak english.....:0
[21:18:24] <mozmck> that's almost obsolete...
[21:18:48] <cradek> so are fragile meat-based robots
[21:19:39] <PetefromTn_> hey speak for yourself heh
[21:21:09] <zeeshan> man
[21:23:36] <mozmck> I saw that ms is offering free "upgrades" to win10 to all win7 & 8 users :)
[21:24:06] <mozmck> the catch? win10 is subscription based
[21:24:30] <cradek> among the catches
[21:24:45] <mozmck> yeah
[21:24:53] <cradek> I recently learned a coworker subscribes to microsoft office too

[21:25:25] <mozmck> I heard that went subscription - don't know when?
[21:25:31] <PetefromTn_> I use that open office..
[21:25:44] <cradek> my dad pays a monthly subscription to his car so he gets an email when it needs an oil change
[21:26:29] <PetefromTn_> tell you what you can pay me a montly subscription and I will call ya and let you know to change your oil ;)
[21:26:39] <mozmck> I prefer to use my memory so I don't lose it all

[21:29:10] <PetefromTn_> holy smoke you still have a cassette player?
[21:29:17] <PetefromTn_> and it still works?
[21:29:35] <cradek> mine's from the short time when cars had both cassette and cd players, and sure they both work
[21:29:49] <PetefromTn_> ;)
[21:29:53] <mozmck> haha! I bought a studio cassette deck and copied most of mine into the computer.
[21:29:54] <cradek> I had to take it apart to clean the tape heads once in the last decade or so
[21:30:03] -!- swingley_ has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
[21:30:15] <cradek> mozmck: keep the tapes, they'll last longer (unless you also backup the digitals to tape)
[21:30:37] <cradek> which would be pretty funny actually
[21:31:17] <mozmck> heh, that could be. I just wanted to be able to play them more easily. Don't listen to much of anything anyways.
[21:31:51] <cradek> yeah digitizing as a way to get better access works great
[21:32:37] <PetefromTn_> somehow I find it ironic that guys who can make a CNC milling center get up and dance from scratch listen to cassette tapes....
[21:33:16] <mozmck> I've done a number of records as well. run it through a scratch and pop filter...
[21:33:51] <mozmck> PetefromTn_: if I could I'd be driving a steam car :)
[21:34:08] <PetefromTn_> why can't ya?
[21:34:27] <mozmck> I do have a small steam engine in the shop, and several belt driven machine tools, some line shaft stuff, and no time :(
[21:34:33] <mozmck> don't have one!
[21:34:37] <cradek> being good at retrofitting cnc machines and driving older cars might both come from the same preference of not discarding what can be repaired
[21:34:49] <PetefromTn_> well you have a CNC right....BUILD ONE!!
[21:35:17] <PetefromTn_> cradek This is true.... I am of the same bent apparently I hate to let anything useful go...
[21:36:03] <PetefromTn_> there is also something to be said for getting a good deal on something and making it better than it was.
[21:36:09] <cradek> absolutely
[21:36:25] <mozmck> I've gotten pretty modern with cars in the last few years. Had an '83 diesel mercedes for many years, but now have an '02 honda minivan...
[21:37:38] <PetefromTn_> I drive a 1993 Fullsize Ford Bronco......because I want to LOL. It's much like the Cincinatti Arrow 500 I am building. an oldie but a goodie..
[21:38:23] <mozmck> my "new" truck is a '96 diesel ford f350, sold my old '85 diesel

[21:38:50] <PetefromTn_> what color is your interior?
[21:39:15] <mozmck> grey
[21:39:47] <mozmck> red out, beat up a bit but runs great! over 400,000 miles.
[21:40:00] <PetefromTn_> nice. mine is the dark grey and I actually need a new instrument cluster surround piece it has a little crack in it and because it is the dark grey interior somehow it is different
[21:41:49] <mozmck> I think mine is light grey. The whole interior is pretty bad - I hate all that plastic they use.
[21:42:37] <PetefromTn_> I got lucky mine is really nice inside. the only problem is this little crack and actually the speaker metal grille cover on the passenger door needs to be glued back on.

[21:58:58] <PetefromTn_> I bought some new door pins and bushings to replace the worn ones
[21:59:14] <PetefromTn_> and the fuel tank is kinda rusty needs replaced.
[21:59:46] <Tom_itx> if you fill those weekly they'll never rust out
[21:59:53] <PetefromTn_> but overall it is a pretty nice truck I am very pleased with. I get compliments on it all the time LOL..
[22:00:09] <PetefromTn_> actually from what I understand they are known for that.
[22:00:31] <PetefromTn_> they sell some stainless ones I guess or coated ones that are supposed to last longer
[22:00:39] <PetefromTn_> I need to ante up and buy one.
[22:00:53] <cradek> new fuel pump while you're at it
[22:00:59] <PetefromTn_> yup that too
[22:01:08] <Tom_itx> and all the black hoses
[22:01:27] <cradek> we sawed a hole above the fuel pump in my ex's 96
