[00:25:52] <memleak> hello all. not sure what the new 64-bit issue is exactly with the division stuff but using unsigned long tends to be fully compatible and interchangeable between 32 and 64
[00:26:45] <memleak> it's how i was able to get 64-bit working with almost _ALL_ of the 32-bit code without having to change hardly anything.
[00:27:39] <memleak> just changing EXX to RXX assembly instructions, everything else pretty much just plugged in.

[01:16:28] <andypugh> I found the problem, and it is not the problem I though it was.
[01:16:51] <andypugh> The issue is how big a "full turn" is on a 32-bit encoder.
[01:17:35] <andypugh> I think it is 33 bits, so won't fit in a 32-bit signed, and I am _dividing_ by that number.

[01:33:36] <andypugh> Luckily it turns out that I don't really care how accurate the result is, so an early cast-to-float (these drive a float pin) seems like a simple answer.
[01:36:12] <andypugh> I changed, then reverted, rtapi_math64 first, but I wasn't confident enough in my comprehension of the ramifications to push that change.

[21:01:49] <cradek> I am having to clean up spam on the wiki more and more often. We've been added to some kind of list or script I suppose. I wonder if just changing the password would help?

[21:02:44] <memleak> How much work would it be to implement those clean-up bot things that wikipedia uses to revert spam?
[21:03:24] <cradek> I don't know - I thought it was mostly humans who did that kind of work
[21:03:46] <memleak> if you're clever enough with how you vandalize a page you can bypass the auto-revert by the bot, but most of the time the bot catches it and reverts it as spam.
[21:04:06] -!- DJ9DJ has quit [Quit: bye]
[21:04:15] <cradek> our wiki doesn't have a "discard edit" feature - you can only revert, keeping the history (and also continuing to benefit these SEO bastards)
[21:04:31] <cradek> so I restore from backup, before the spam, instead
[21:04:59] <cradek> I doubt that can be automated without a lot of effort :-/

[21:13:38] <CaptHindsight> for coreboot.org we ended up with just allowing edit rights to known devs, otherwise it was instant trolls or spam
[21:14:19] <CaptHindsight> or anti-coreboot agendas
[21:14:20] <cradek> a middle ground for us would be to NOT put the password anywhere on the wiki, and just pass it around to ourselves
[21:14:51] <cradek> I'm not sure what to do (except keep cleaning it up manually)
[21:15:16] <cradek> there is a banlist (by IP) that at least helps a bit
[21:19:02] <CaptHindsight> unfortunately spammers don't respect anyone
[21:21:31] <CaptHindsight> there are probably enough people that can edit the wiki now, maybe anyone new should be screened first
[21:23:07] <CaptHindsight> if somebody without edit rights to the wiki wanted something up they could post it on the ML and it would be added generally withing a day or two
[21:23:58] <cradek> I don't want to deal with that
[21:24:07] <CaptHindsight> and that was with only 10-20 devs with wiki access
[21:25:03] <CaptHindsight> so you feel like you'd be the only one to have to make the edits
[21:25:33] <cradek> no, it's not only that. it's also the idea of having another list of special people
[21:25:46] <cradek> I'd rather clean spam than do unnecessary access control
[21:39:44] <cradek> well I changed the password. Sorry everyone.
