[01:13:31] <jepler> that code exists because when I wrote axis I didn't (and I still don't, since it's seen even less exercise in the intervening time) trust the "verify" functionality that is available through an NML message. It used to be very slow (this is probably fixed), but I suspect that its implementation does things like leave the interpreter state different after the "verify" as opposed to before
[01:13:50] <jepler> but on the other hand "verify" would give the "same" limits errors as actually running the program, and that'd be nice
[01:14:56] <jepler> so while it's entirely possible that there's just some dumb typo in the bounds checking in axis and I'd be thrilled for somebody to notice it and change my - to a +, I wonder whether a better long-term plan would be to make the verify functionality in task "work right"
