[02:06:28] -!- jcizek has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[02:13:49] <KimK> Not that I've heard. I think you can can continue to choose either one.
[02:14:34] -!- mozmck has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[02:17:20] <jepler> I also am not aware of any plans to deprecate pyvcp
[02:17:43] <cradek> my answer on #emc is that it will definitely be in 2.5
[02:17:49] <cradek> er, was
[02:17:55] <cradek> me new speak english
[02:18:24] <jepler> I dimly envision a future where we might have gtk alternatives for everything and decide it's worth the effort to split the emc package in order to reduce dependencies of the base package
[02:18:57] <jepler> (e.g., tkemc, axis, pyvcp go to emc-tk and touchy, a not-yet-written non-touch-centric UI and gladevcp go in the emc package)
[02:19:01] <jepler> (or emc-minimal package)
[02:19:47] <jepler> this would trim about 8 megs of installed-size for emc dependencies

[17:04:32] <JT-Shop> if you make a change to axis.py do you have to build before it shows up when running from a RIP
[17:06:45] <jepler> JT-Shop: yes.
[17:07:33] -!- factor has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
[17:08:09] -!- Valen has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[17:08:10] <JT-Shop> jepler: thanks
[17:11:11] <JT-Shop> I'm trying to see if I can add an ini entry to DISPLAY to start Axis normal or maximized... do you think that is possible? If so I'll keep trying to find the magic
[17:11:11] -!- ve7it [ve7it!~LawrenceG@S0106009027972e37.pk.shawcable.net] has joined #emc-devel
[17:12:14] <cradek> http://www.google.com/search?q=emc+AXIS+maximized
[17:13:17] <JT-Shop> I was trying to do that without devilspie
[17:14:33] <psha> cradek: is not it possible to achieve same with .axisrc?
[17:14:55] <psha> if it's possible to maximize window using Tkinter
[17:16:58] <JT-Shop> I found a few py tk things so far but none have worked where this is root_window.deiconify()
[17:17:17] <JT-Shop> I assume is where it might need to go
[17:17:29] <JT-Shop> this is
[17:18:16] <JT-Shop> I see it twice once about line 3300 in axis.py and a little above that
[17:19:10] <psha> it's used to allow child windows to reparent in it
[17:19:27] <psha> so we create window, iconify it, wait for child processes and then deiconify
[17:20:07] <JT-Shop> ah ok
[17:21:56] <JT-Shop> looks like 116 is where the root_window is created with root_window = Tkinter.Tk(className="Axis")
[17:23:44] <dgarr> you can setset window size (eg 1000x600) in ~/.axisrc: root_window.tk.call("wm","geometry",".","1000x600")
[17:25:26] <JT-Shop> dgarr: can you just maximize it? in axisrc?
[17:26:11] -!- vladimirek has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[17:28:24] <psha> dgarr: have you any repo for ngcgui? or just regulary create tgz archives?
[17:29:10] <JT-Shop> Dewey, Thanks that works great!
[17:29:30] <dgarr> re ngcgui: no repo, I keep hoping someone will consider commiting it, i maintain a patch for emc2.5: http://www.panix.com/~dgarrett/stuff/0001-ngcgui-for-v2.5.patch
[17:30:09] <dgarr> JT-Shop: setting to max is possible but more work, fixed size is easy
[17:30:57] <JT-Shop> fixed size works great for me
[17:31:36] <JT-Shop> to apply the patch I just copy the file and name it ngcgui.patch in my git directory then run git patch?
[17:32:03] -!- JT-Hardinge [JT-Hardinge!~chatzilla@216-41-156-49.semo.net] has joined #emc-devel
[17:32:20] <dgarr> git am the_name_of_the_patch_file
[17:33:10] <JT-Shop> ok I'll do it right now on the Hardinge
[17:34:12] <JT-Hardinge> I assume I need to git pull first
[17:35:23] <JT-Hardinge> got a couple of whitespace error complaints, running make now
[17:35:38] <psha> i was asked to help with ngcgui localization but i don't know if there is some work going after i've added example translation string
[17:38:45] <JT-Hardinge> I moved the tcl files out of my config and I get this error tkinter.TclError: couldn't read file "ngcgui_app.tcl": no such file or directory
[17:39:48] <JT-Hardinge> this is my line to start my RIP of 2.5 /home/john/emc2-dev/scripts/emc /home/john/emc2/configs/hardinge/hardinge.ini

[17:56:26] -!- andypugh [andypugh!~andy2@cpc2-basl1-0-0-cust1037.basl.cable.virginmedia.com] has joined #emc-devel
[17:58:34] <dgarr> JT-Shop: the patch makes configuring simpler but configuration is slightly different. it uses [DISPLAY]TKPKG instead of TKAPP. user does not need to supply ngcgui_app.tcl
[17:58:53] <dgarr> look at configs/sim/ngcgui_lathe.ini for example
[18:08:58] <dgarr> JT-Shop: the patch eliminates the need to specify .tcl files by using versioned, tcl packages (enabled by commit af6ae9907e1c)
[18:08:58] <dgarr> With this patch, you specify versioned packages like:
[18:08:58] <dgarr> TKPKG = Ngcgui 1.0
[18:09:56] <dgarr> TKPKG = Ngcguittt 1.0

[18:14:05] <KimK> I'm working on docs again, trying to clarify a point in HALUI. In "halui.jog.n...." and "halui.joint.n....", you pick 012345678 for XYZABCUVW. OK, so far, so good. But I've been looking at src/emc/usr_intf/halui.cc to see if any other values are allowed. The documentation in halui.cc says "(x = 0..8, selected)"
[18:14:10] <KimK> Does the "selected" just mean that 0-8 are the values for the selected axis, or does it mean that there is another "currently selected" value (like -1?) that is also allowed? Comments and advice appreciated. I've got to run an errand, I'll scroll back later. Thanks!
