[00:52:32] <Roguish> cradek: i just modified pyvcp_widgets.py to add a rectangular LED. can i send it to you to add to the source files?
[00:54:01] <Roguish> http://imagebin.org/22105
[00:54:32] <Roguish> or anyone else?
[00:56:09] <SWPadnos> yay! :)
[00:56:30] <SWPadnos> how about adding a pin for controlling color :)
[00:57:31] <Roguish> now you're getting complicated. there are on and off colors already. just by pin state.
[00:58:01] <SWPadnos> that may be close enough
[00:58:12] <SWPadnos> if you have a diff, I can apply it
[00:58:22] <SWPadnos> diff -u
[00:58:39] <Roguish> a what? of that one file?
[00:58:52] <SWPadnos> sure, or the whole file if you like
[00:59:12] <Roguish> i copied the current LED section, renamed it and modified it.
[00:59:47] <SWPadnos> if you pastebin the new section, I can add it ;)
[01:00:18] <Roguish> http://pastebin.com/d6e813235
[01:00:26] <SWPadnos> thanks
[01:00:37] <Roguish> no, thank you.
[01:00:47] <SWPadnos> gah. what's with all the extra CR
[01:01:14] <Roguish> thanks also for the inverse comp.
[01:01:19] <Roguish> heck if i know?
[01:01:23] <SWPadnos> I may change that to rectled instead of led2
[01:01:25] <SWPadnos> heh
[01:01:26] <SWPadnos> no problem
[01:01:29] <Roguish> gedit?
[01:01:42] <Roguish> rectled is ok
[01:01:55] <SWPadnos> shouldn't be - I'm looking at the pastebin and it has blank lines every second line
[01:02:11] <Roguish> looks good in my gedit.
[01:02:19] <SWPadnos> now where's that source file again? :)
[01:03:17] <Roguish> http://imagebin.org/22106
[01:03:22] <SWPadnos> ok, found it
[01:03:40] <Roguish> look at top of gedit picture
[01:03:48] <Roguish> full path.
[01:04:34] <SWPadnos> I just never remember where those things are - thanks
[01:09:10] <Roguish> off to dinner. bbl.
[01:09:47] <SWPadnos> well. that was an excellent example of why it's a bad combination when you have (a) a lot of papers stazcked on top of your monitor, (b) a lot of important papers on your desk and (c) a cup of coffee next to said important papers
[01:09:52] <SWPadnos> -z
[01:14:48] <CIA-34> EMC: 03swpadnos 07TRUNK * 10emc2/debian/changelog: document new components
[01:19:22] <CIA-34> EMC: 03swpadnos 07v2_2_branch * 10emc2/debian/changelog: document new components
[01:26:53] <cradek> does gearchange really work with exactly two gearings or is that a simplification in the changelog?
[01:27:24] <cradek> hm, sorry to hear about your papers
[01:27:36] <cradek> I hate when important stuff is on paper.
[01:28:05] <SWPadnos> it's exactly two. I should generalize it one day
[01:28:38] <SWPadnos> 2 does work for most bridgeport-style mills though
[01:30:18] <SWPadnos> do you suppose the addition of rectangular LEDs is appropriate for 2.2?
[01:31:05] <cradek> yeah lots of machines have two gears, one often reversed
[01:31:17] <SWPadnos> yep. I did the reverse handling in the component
[01:31:54] <cradek> I don't know about the square led. It is not a bugfix. Wait and see what jepler thinks, I guess
[01:32:07] <SWPadnos> ok - it's easy enough to backport
[01:32:28] <SWPadnos> Roguish, I took out the comments - that's what the changelog/commit messages are for
[01:32:37] <SWPadnos> otherwise, thanks! :)
[01:32:59] <cradek> yes, that's cool, thanks
[01:33:26] <CIA-34> EMC: 03swpadnos 07TRUNK * 10emc2/lib/python/pyvcp_widgets.py: added rectangular LED widgets. from Roguish on IRC
[02:36:06] <cradek> jmkasunich: that's the same lathe tormach was showing isn't it
[02:36:27] <jmkasunich> dunno
[02:36:38] <jmkasunich> I thought it was a tiny bit bigger, but maybe not
[02:37:10] <cradek> I recognize all the controls, etc, but you are right that the size might have been different
[02:41:09] <SWPadnos> nope - 7x12 also
[02:41:44] <jmkasunich> what a pos lathe
[02:41:56] <cradek> yeah.
[02:42:19] <SWPadnos> I don't know if they had anything done to it, but it sure looks like it's made at the same factory
[02:43:15] <cradek> I noticed in particular that the two main knobs turned within .1" of each other. it would be almost impossible to use.
[02:43:41] <cradek> the compound was worse - no way you could turn either one unless it was set at 30 deg +
[02:43:41] <SWPadnos> heh - no manual (intentional) taper cuts :)
[02:44:18] <SWPadnos> I suspect they see it more as an accessory for the mill than as a standalone lathe, but who knows
[02:44:49] <cradek> yeah I know. it's a shame they couldn't find a better one.
[02:44:50] <jmkasunich> well, greg talked about "they can take it off and use it as a manual lathe" as a feature
[02:44:59] <SWPadnos> yes indeed
[02:45:03] <SWPadnos> and only $1200!
[02:45:10] <cradek> * cradek shivers
[02:45:16] <jmkasunich> anybody that spent the money on their mill and has a clue at all will barf
[02:45:30] <jmkasunich> the mill is a high class machine, the lathe is crap
[02:45:52] <SWPadnos> at least it should be able to do 1PPR threading now though ;)
[02:46:54] <jmkasunich> I still have to do the man page, and I want to use halsampler to capture some cuts and do some analysis
[02:47:12] <SWPadnos> heh - I'm sure the design criteria of "must fit on the table of the mill" was a pisser
[03:00:39] <SWPadnos> heh - or $450 for the cummins version: http://www.toolsnow.com/browse.cfm/4,876.htm
[03:12:21] <jmkasunich> you know, that tailstock design isn't really fundamenally flawed
[03:14:38] <jmkasunich> you just gotta understand how it works, and visualize the forces
