[11:18:21] <CIA-31> EMC: 03fenn 07TRUNK * 10emc2/src/emc/usr_intf/axis/scripts/mdi.py: add basic usage documentation
[12:18:11] <skunkworks_> jepler: http://www.electronicsam.com/images/KandT/conversion/pci8255.pdf
[12:18:21] <skunkworks_> Maybe this will help?
[12:23:45] <rayh> Don't you love the line, "when you boot your computer next time..."
[12:26:42] <skunkworks_> heh
[12:27:09] <rayh> install the drivers and then reboot.
[12:27:26] <rayh> p15 of your card's manual
[12:32:31] <skunkworks_> mornging ray
[12:32:39] <skunkworks_> morning?
[12:32:52] <rayh> How you doing today?
[12:34:01] <skunkworks_> it's friday... so it can't be all bad./
[12:34:20] <skunkworks_> how is roland doing?
[12:34:51] <rayh> Getting better. Impatient to get back to work.
[12:35:26] <skunkworks_> I bet :)
[12:37:30] <rayh> I've got that same 8255 chip on a couple of Bsoft 48 IO cards in a box someplace.
[12:37:48] <rayh> But it was ISA so pretty easy to talk to.
[12:43:35] <skunkworks_> yah - sounds like it is a tiger chip issue
[12:47:48] <rayh> I remember that I had a bitch of a time with the pci card trying to configure the ABC ports for in or out.
[12:48:46] <rayh> I think I've still got it around here someplace. I should dig it out and try to follow your work.
[12:49:15] <rayh> It was just 24 IO.
[12:59:32] <skunkworks_> my work? I am just a user.. :) jepler had been the one fighting with it.
[13:03:07] <rayh> I know the feeling. These guys know a whole different world of computer programming.
[13:07:21] <jepler> skunkworks_: thanks for getting that
[13:07:27] <jepler> skunkworks_: I skimmed it but nothing jumped out at me as relevant
[13:09:35] <skunkworks_> darn :)
[13:10:02] <skunkworks_> Did you get a chance to see if the card is toast?
[13:12:13] <jepler> no, I didn't touch it. Some non-emc thing had already sapped all my patience for troubleshooting..
[13:12:29] <skunkworks_> heh
[14:01:44] <CIA-31> EMC: 03lerman 07TRUNK * 10emc2/src/emc/rs274ngc/interp_read.cc:
[14:01:44] <CIA-31> EMC: Fix bug: [ 1955725 ] error msg issue with o-word sub from another file
[14:01:44] <CIA-31> EMC: In changing from numeric o-words to string o-words, the o-word had still
[14:01:44] <CIA-31> EMC: been printed as a number, thus printing the pointer to the string
[14:01:44] <CIA-31> EMC: instead of the string, itself.
[14:01:47] <CIA-31> EMC: This is a one line change that should not impact other aspects of the
[14:01:49] <CIA-31> EMC: program.
[16:08:48] <jepler> hm I think my hardy/amd64/rtai machine crashed again
[16:33:09] <rayh> mine is still running
[19:50:42] <rayh> Hi jepler
[19:51:05] <rayh> I got some info from measurement computing about using their pci board with linux.
[19:51:12] <rayh> Warren Jasper's ftp page: ftp://lx10.tx.ncsu.edu/pub/Linux/drivers/
[19:51:35] <rayh> I don't know if anything at that site will help.
[19:54:34] <jepler> rayh: That's a different card than the futurlec 8255 card
[19:55:04] <rayh> Right but it seems like I talked with prof jasper years ago and he was some help.
[19:56:00] <jepler> thanks
[19:56:04] <rayh> The problem I had back then was initialization
[19:56:41] <rayh> Would it help if I tried one of our drivers on a dio24 card or is there such an animal.
[19:57:53] <jepler> the only hardware this driver I'm trying to debug will work on is the futurlec 8255 card with Tiger320 PCI bridge. I think it's unique in the world.
[19:59:45] <cradek> and sounds like we're lucky for that
[20:03:13] <rayh> Okay.
