it may have been an accident, like when you responded twice
cradek: dunno - my accident was a browser refresh, less than a minute after the original post
the 2nd report was about 7-8 hours later
jmkasunich: I'm just being generous
never attribute to malice etc etc etc
the good news for the night, for me at least, is that I've changed from being surprised if my car runs again to being surprised if it doesn't
two of the valves are now quite free and the third is pretty free
a few more days of penetrating oil and jiggling should do it
then I just have to fix the original problem, which I suspect is plugged oil passages in the rockers
* cradek talks animatedly to himself
glad to hear it
yeah I'm pretty thrilled
I also (painstakingly) bent the pushrods back into shape
I may not have to hunt for parts at all
hoping to completely avoid the junkyards eh
yeah I was "wearing" a dozen ticks last time I went (I bet it was also late summer then)
I really like going to junkyards and hunting for parts, but ticks are icky
thats why you wear long pants and sleeves
well pants anyway
they were all "below the waist", ugh
clever little bastards
I'll try evil chemicals next time
duct tape the pants cuffs maybe
I've also heard you should wear your socks on the outside of your pants
any of you guys have personal experience with the CD-boot ubuntu iso?
the standard ubuntu live CD? yep
how'd you save your settings to a usb key?
yeah, the standard live cd.
so that it'll load them on bootup again
no idea, sorry
oh, I never actually used it much - just booted it and installed to hard disk
well... I can't exactly do that to a work computer. :)
actually using a computer from a live CD for more than a short time would make me nutz
bet its faster than a live CD
it's pretty decent actually
I've got a USB key, 1gig.
be sure to install the vmware tools
the nice thing about vmware is that you don't have to reboot to bop back and forth from linux to whatever the host OS is (probably doze)
man, do people still use windows at workplaces? good grief.
don't rub it in
sorry, it's just otherworldly to me to use that
it's been a long time
we're a programming house... for php... I would like linux, with gnome or kde...
Guest342 is now known as skunkworks_
what's up alex_joni ?
gotta pack.. no real interest in doing that
yeah I know what you mean
going to germany tomorrow
back on friday though
may the work you're there to do go smoothly
no work really
I'm going to look at some laser-hybrid welding
sounds neat but over my head
well.. I'll take some pictures
and I need to get some 3D models for the simulation software I got
