damn! that figures.
if Aram Kasparov's post is true, I'm a little bummed
about the new mesa card?
a new version of the 5i20 ...
I think they would have at least mentioned it
at least they were pretty cheap
when you ordered 10+cards
yeah, though it was the 25+ price :)
15, 5, 9, 8, and 16 to be precise :)
somehow I wonder..
I am just glad I have the board the developers have ;)
heh. did yours arrive?
SWPadnos: I just googled for mesa m5i20
the first 20 hits are emc related :D
that may change if you leave off the "m"
they call it the 5i20
you can sell one here: http://wantitnow.ebay.com/mesa-electronics-M5i20_W0QQadidZ190057526911
well, I do have three of them ... :)
SWPadnos: should be here today.
5i20 brings the first 2 hits from mesanet, the rest are emc :D
On FedEx vehicle for delivery
cool. you're the lucky one - it's going to a business (where someone can sign for it;) )
huh - these people sell Mesa products: http://www.lvp.nl/
any specs on the new version?
I wonder how aram knew a new version was coming out?
and if he did, how come he knew so little
there is another version (sort of) - the one with 12 or 24 RS422 channels on it
they may be making a newer version of that with a zillion ethernets instead
that would be interesting :)
I can't quite imagine what you'd use a zillion ethernets for
talking to lots of ethernet things
I guess you want lots of point-to-point links if you're doing realtime?
yeah - one per axis
or one per camera, in my case :)
those are UDP for realtime
so it's better to have them p2p
is it damned cold there yet?
It is just starting that way.
oh good. we may get winter before summer then :)
Looks like zero in the next couple days.
It has been a mild one so far.
You get rain the last few days?
nice sunny day here yesterday, lake effect today.
hmmm. overcast yet still above freezing here
Looks like the wind pattern should cool you in the next couple days.
ok. that's good (in a way ;) )
out of curiosity, which mini-ITX board did you get the not-bad-for-RT results with?
well, it looks like FedEx ground/home delivery doesn't care about "signature required" :)
The user's manual says VIA CN700 chipset
ok - nothing special though, just a relatively inexpensive Eden or Epia board?
SWPadnos: woo! (I left a nice note on the door)
ah - cool
I figured it couldn't hurt
* SWPadnos senses that someone will take a long lunch break today ;)
nah... too far to drive
I'll probably just cross my fingers and hope cradek remembers to bring it to the office tomorrow
unless jepler wants to go get them, I guess...
I won't be home until too late tonight anyway
invoice says J7F2-10000 VIA CN700 (W 1.0GB C& MINI ITX
jetway Via Eden board, 1 GHz processor ... ?
My worry was the onboard display stuff.
my kiosk PC has an onboard LCD controller, but it has 4M on-chip, so it acts like a PCI or AGP card (not shared memory)
what color depth are you running?
24 as default
hmmm - cool
framebuffer of some sort
and vesa driver

it would be cool if the Epia boards in general have good RT performance
yes it would
Roltek has had a bitch of a time with an older 800.
wasn't able to load ubuntu-emc
seems like it was a bad memory card.
bdi loaded fine.
yeah. it may be that the newer chipsets are better (I don't think the S3 Unichrome controller was used until recently)
I have S3 unichrome in one of my amd64 boxes, but it didn't work even with the "vesa" driver (fedora, xorg 6.8)
once it's out of service maybe I'll try it with the emc2 live cd
is that an onboard chip?
I don't remember if they ever mace plug-in cards
yes that's the onboard video
I put in a g400 to make it work
I guess 6.9 was when unichrome started actually working
rayh: did roltek try the vesa driver (the alternate vga mode on the initial menu)?
I forget what it's called exactly
"safe video mode"?
