[03:56:27] <fenn> "That we seek out and publish a list of specialists, people willing to help with emc, both development and user questions" <-- in addition to the people already subscribed to the mailing lists?
[03:57:15] <fenn> or as a "point of contact" for a particular area
[04:03:43] <cradek> fenn: yes the idea came out of our discussion with the edm guys at fest. As we support edm, we ought to find someone who is willing to help people use emc for edm as well as tell the developers what emc needs to do edm better.
[04:05:01] <cradek> actually now that I read it, I think that didn't come through very well in the motion.
[04:07:39] <fenn> where was that axis documentation .pdf again?
[04:08:34] <cradek> I'm not sure
[04:08:57] <fenn> ah i think i found it
[04:09:23] <fenn> http://emergent.unpy.net/index.cgi-files/sandbox/axis.pdf
[04:10:09] <fenn> not the best permanent resting place..
[04:10:14] <cradek> maybe he wasn't happy with it yet
[04:10:26] <fenn> i've been wanting to have some page on linuxcnc.org with all of the .pdf's on it
[04:10:39] <cradek> a very good idea
[04:10:48] <fenn> but i've run into problems converting them, and they'd need someone to convert them each time
[04:11:07] <fenn> so it'd be best if there were a compile farm type script that did that and uploaded them to linxucnc.org
[04:11:48] <cradek> I think jmk might be right that they should be in the same cvs as the source and be "compiled" with make
[04:12:41] <fenn> if make is smart enough to do that
[04:12:46] <cradek> of course the gui editors (lyx) may not be scriptable like that
[04:12:49] <fenn> or if you're smart enough to make make do that :)
[04:12:55] <cradek> make can easily do anything the shell can
[04:13:11] <cradek> lyx I dunno about.
[05:51:33] <alex_joni> lyx can easily make pdf's from the commandline
[05:58:15] <fenn> it died when i tried to convert to html
[06:04:47] <fenn> finally..
http://pastebin.com/732532
[06:33:53] <fenn> the axis user manual got merged into EMC2_User_Manual.pdf
[07:36:08] <fenn> uploaded the latest to linuxcnc.org/images/emc2_user_manual.pdf with joomla
[12:18:54] <jepler> /images/ ?
[12:20:55] <jepler> there's something wrong with the kerning in the typewriter font, and the images have been ravaged too
[12:21:31] <jepler> there's a trick I did locally to keep .png images looking nice---I think it involved using imagemagick 'convert' to turn ps into pdf, instead of the default.
[14:39:28] <jepler> oh what a surprise -- paul's taking a dump on the GPL again. "apt-get source emc2" on a bdi system fails because the .diff.gz is missing from his apt repository
[17:06:03] <alex_joni> morning all
[17:07:05] <SkunkWorks> morning alex
