[23:49:05] <alex_joni> jmkasunich: didn't quite see the ah-ha moment
[23:49:13] <alex_joni> but only scanned the history..
[23:49:24] <alex_joni> didn't fully read all of it..
[23:49:59] <jmkasunich> basically, I assumed ray wanted each level of the tree to be an exact copy of part of the name
[23:50:19] <jmkasunich> turns out he wants to modify things when he displays them
[23:50:21] <jmkasunich> for instance
[23:50:33] <jmkasunich> name is ppmc.0.encoder.1.position
[23:50:37] <jmkasunich> he wants to display
[23:50:39] <jmkasunich> ppmc
[23:50:44] <jmkasunich> encoder
[23:50:49] <jmkasunich> encoder.1
[23:50:56] <jmkasunich> encoder.1.position
[23:51:07] <jmkasunich> encoder.2
[23:51:18] <jmkasunich> etc
[23:51:30] <jmkasunich> IOW, since theres only one ppmc, he drops the 0
[23:51:31] <alex_joni> I can't see how that's better than having full names on all the nodes/leafs?
[23:51:47] <jmkasunich> I can't either, I'd rather have full names on leafs
[23:51:54] <alex_joni> ppmc
[23:52:04] <alex_joni> ppmc.0.encoder
[23:52:15] <alex_joni> ppmc.0.encoder.1
[23:52:18] <alex_joni> etc..
[23:52:50] <jmkasunich> well, now that I understand that he wants to manipulate the names when he prints them, it doesn' matter
[23:54:22] <alex_joni> I might be too sleepy to fully grasp the issue ;)
[23:54:26] <alex_joni> if there even is one..
[23:54:33] <jmkasunich> on phone with dave-e
[23:54:41] <alex_joni> ok
[23:56:46] <jmkasunich> loadrt [EMCMOT]EMCMOT base_period_nsec=[EMCMOT]BASE_PERIOD servo_period_nsec=[EMCMOT]SERVO_PERIOD traj_period_nsec=[EMCMOT]TRAJ_PERIOD
[23:56:50] <jmkasunich> oops
[23:56:57] <alex_joni> :)
