[10:07:04] <SWP_Away> SWP_Away is now known as SWPadnos
[10:59:56] <chinamill> Hello, there seemes to be a translation error (probably a matrix scaleing error) in Axis testing 20060302. (I run metric setup) The white print is alot bigger than the red print.
[13:02:03] <jepler> A free one-user AXIS license to the person who sends me a .ini and a .ngc that reproduce that problem....
[13:04:19] <alex_joni> lol
[13:04:25] <alex_joni> can tehy be empty ?
[13:04:27] <alex_joni> they
[13:06:40] <jepler> It seems unlikely that empty files will reproduce the problem
[13:07:43] <alex_joni> ok, then keep your one-user AXIS licence :)
[13:11:57] <alex_joni> joke aside, I'll ask chinamill if I'll see him around
[13:21:10] <alex_joni> does anonymous cvs work for anyone?
[13:37:56] <rayh> I lost the apt command that installs the dependencies for emc2 compile.
[13:39:37] <cradek> apt-get build-dep emc2
[13:40:16] <cradek> it's also in the apt-get manpage for next time
[13:50:47] <rayh> okay thanks
[15:55:59] <alex_joni> hello
[16:01:31] <cradek> hi
[16:03:14] <alex_joni> * alex_joni is tired..
[16:03:26] <alex_joni> I mean really tired..
[16:04:21] <cradek> you said that yesterday too ... you must be working hard lately.
[16:06:08] <alex_joni> well, it's 6PM, and I'm still at work again :)
[16:06:12] <alex_joni> but that's kinda ok
[16:06:19] <alex_joni> what bugs me is anon CVS
[16:10:00] <alex_joni> cvs [login aborted]: unrecognized auth response from cvs.sourceforge.net: M -!- Client or Server timeout occurred!
[16:10:09] <cradek> ugh.
[16:10:28] <cradek> new emc2-axis package in the ubuntu repository
[16:10:37] <alex_joni> cradek: btw, what did I break?
[16:10:48] <cradek> ?
[16:11:00] <alex_joni> you said earlier I broke something touching interp
[16:11:04] <alex_joni> and you needed to redo axis
[16:11:15] <alex_joni> well.. make a new package
[16:11:19] <cradek> you added a canon call
[16:11:38] <alex_joni> right
[16:11:52] <cradek> we have to update the canon in axis when that api changes
[16:11:55] <cradek> no big deal at all
[16:12:00] <alex_joni> I see.. ok
[16:12:27] <alex_joni> http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/emc/
[16:12:34] <alex_joni> Proxy Error
[16:12:34] <alex_joni> The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
[16:12:34] <alex_joni> The proxy server could not handle the request GET /viewcvs.py/emc/.
[16:12:34] <alex_joni> Reason: Error reading from remote server
[16:12:45] <alex_joni> bleah :/
[19:47:27] <alex_joni> * alex_joni prods cradek
[19:48:03] <cradek> who me?
[19:48:59] <alex_joni> yes, you ;)
[19:49:13] <alex_joni> I have something to ask of you ..
[19:49:31] <cradek> ok...?
[19:49:39] <alex_joni> can you look at wiki.linuxcnc.org and tell me if it's any better?
[19:49:48] <cradek> sure
[19:51:32] <cradek> I like that table organization, I think we've needed a "table of contents" for a while
[19:51:54] <alex_joni> how about the CSS?
[19:52:59] <cradek> why are some things orange and some blue?
[19:54:25] <cradek> I like the white background better
[19:54:31] <alex_joni> external links are blue
[19:56:40] <cradek> one of the odd things about our wiki is how every page has the title at the top twice (sometimes with different spacing)
[19:57:13] <cradek> no, I guess it's a title
[20:00:58] <alex_joni> so.. bottomline, any better?
[20:02:01] <cradek> about the css: I don't really like the pastel colors.
[20:02:12] <cradek> about the table of contents: yes, much better
[20:03:38] <cradek> can you get rid of the huge title at the top?
[20:04:14] <cradek> maybe the top of the page could say EMC KnowledgeBase: CurrentPage [penguin]
[20:04:24] <cradek> it would help if that was at the top
[20:04:48] <alex_joni> * alex_joni looks
[20:17:05] <alex_joni> better like this?
[20:17:47] <cradek> yes, that helps
[20:21:20] <alex_joni> yay,managed to center that table
[20:21:25] <alex_joni> that was hard ;)
[20:24:33] <cradek> now if you would just fix the colors :-)
[20:24:50] <alex_joni> any wishes?
[20:25:55] <cradek> how about blue and maybe ubuntu brown
[20:26:00] <cradek> let me get you a color number
[20:26:44] <alex_joni> * alex_joni waits
[20:27:10] <alex_joni> I chose the red because it's the same one like on the future linuxcnc.org page
[20:32:28] <cradek> #6d4c07
[20:32:31] <cradek> is that brown I think
[20:34:03] <cradek> they use it next to black and it seems to look ok
[20:34:07] <cradek> I'm bad at choosing colors.
[20:34:30] <alex_joni> #c64934
[20:35:33] <alex_joni> it's all brown now
[20:40:37] <alex_joni> is it better?
[20:43:01] <alex_joni> cradek: if you feel like it you can change the css yourself
[20:43:23] <alex_joni> it's in /home/groups/e/em/emc/htdocs/template.css
[20:59:55] <alex_joni> chinamill: hello
[21:00:33] <alex_joni> chinamill: jepler asked if you can provide an ini and ngc file that produce the bug you mentioned today
[21:06:03] <chinamill> where shall I post? the wiki? and then paste the link here?
[21:06:15] <alex_joni> link here if you can
[21:06:28] <alex_joni> or use pastebin.com or any other paste tool out there
[21:08:28] <cradek> I reproduced the problem guys
[21:08:36] <cradek> should have a fix soon
[21:08:51] <cradek> chinamill: you should always place g21 at the top of your files.
[21:09:06] <jepler> the latest crack at a fix is in axis-latest.tar.gz but it's not been tested much.
[21:09:07] <cradek> chinamill: that is the workaround now and is a good practice anyway.
[21:11:55] <chinamill> cradek: Do I still need to upload ini and ngc?
[21:12:22] <cradek> chinamill: no, it's not necessary, but thank you
[21:13:06] <chinamill> The ubuntu automatic aupdate rocks!
[21:13:25] <cradek> I'm glad you like it
[21:14:10] <chinamill> Much less fuss to try things, therefore more feedback faster
[21:48:31] <chinamill> When will we see the stepping values for axis be set in the ini? Would be really good to be able to increase those to at least a mm, instead of 0.1mm at maximum
[21:49:14] <cradek> you mean the incremental jog?
[21:49:23] <chinamill> yep
[21:49:39] <cradek> I agree they should be higher for mm
[21:49:48] <alex_joni> cradek: that reminds me of jogging speed (feed_override doesn't really work for mm)
[21:49:58] <alex_joni> well.. it does, but it's slooow
[21:50:14] <cradek> you have to set default speed to max speed in the ini, then use the feed override to slow down the jog when necessary.
[21:54:29] <chinamill> I noticed another very small bug in axis...
[21:54:41] <jepler> what's that?
[21:56:43] <chinamill> When axis ask if I really want to cntinue (when gcode goes out of buonce, ehh) when I click with mouse it is ok, but when I do tab and enter, it escapes instead of approves... Sorry for the bad report
[21:57:09] <jepler> I think I understand what you're saying.
[21:58:22] <jepler> chinamill: if you want to do it from the keyboard, hit tab then space
[21:58:45] <jepler> chinamill: space invokes the button with focus (black band), enter invokes the default button (large border)
[22:01:52] <chinamill> jepler: ok, I used tab to "focus" on the button that says something like go ahead anyway. So if I do tab to change the focus and then enter to hit the button it still escapes, maybe you feel I dont use the keyboard corectly, but it is analog to many other applications.
[22:04:16] <alex_joni> jepler: think chinamill means some other apps change the default button too when user hits tab
[22:05:24] <jepler> alex_joni: I understand that
[22:05:26] <jepler> I'm not saying it's not a bug
[22:08:11] <alex_joni> it's just a matter of taste I think..
[22:08:31] <alex_joni> I always use space on keboard operated buttons (when using TAB)
[22:11:05] <jepler> I think I do too
[22:13:10] <alex_joni> ok, off to bed.. working tomorrow
[22:14:09] <jepler> chinamill: I've modified the behavior of the dialog (and others like it, if there are any)
[22:14:16] <jepler> chinamill: you may like it better now
[22:14:48] <jepler> chinamill: This change is in HEAD but I haven't decided whether I'll do it in 1.2, where I don't want to make any more changes than I have to.
[22:14:53] <chinamill> :)
