[00:03:08] <andypugh> It does that if you don't use the --install option
[00:04:18] -!- thesisb has quit [Quit: Leaving...]
[00:05:57] <GammaX-Shop|2> andypugh: that worked
[00:06:22] <GammaX-Shop|2> with the --install option
[00:06:50] <andypugh> So, I wonder what is wrong with the modbus version?
[00:07:07] -!- gene_hacker has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
[00:07:13] <andypugh> There were a couple of updates to comp for userspace components today.
[00:07:20] <GammaX-Shop|2> me 2
[00:07:23] <GammaX-Shop|2> you got it to compile?
[00:07:42] <andypugh> Yes. But I am running the latest pull of master.
[00:09:16] <GammaX-Shop|2> idk what that means
[00:09:55] <andypugh> I am running the very latest development version.
[00:10:07] <GammaX-Shop|2> ahhh
[00:10:14] <GammaX-Shop|2> i think im on most recent stable
[00:10:30] <andypugh> Give me a minute, I can switch back
[00:10:37] <GammaX-Shop|2> this code isnt new though...
[00:12:30] <GammaX-Shop|2> roger that
[00:12:55] <andypugh> Compiles and runs fine in v2.5 too
[00:14:07] -!- rob_h has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
[00:14:09] -!- Valen has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[00:14:22] <andypugh> sudo apt-get install build-essential linuxcnc-dev
[00:16:56] <GammaX-Shop|2> I think I know what was wrong....
[00:17:16] <GammaX-Shop|2> how do I know if the file was installed correctly?
[00:18:03] <GammaX-Shop|2> I saved the file on a windows pc and then brought it into linux. I opened it with gedit, saved as unix type.
[00:18:23] <andypugh> With a realtime component you see a "cp file-to-new-location" at the end of the output. But not with a userspace compoent, it seems.
[00:18:38] <andypugh> But, to test
[00:18:40] <andypugh> halrun
[00:18:52] <andypugh> loadusr sj200mbbasic
[00:18:56] <andypugh> show pin

[00:26:52] <GammaX-Shop|2> yeah only thing I had to do was change the "line ending" to unix/linux type in gedit.
[00:26:56] <GammaX-Shop|2> and it compiled and installed.

[01:00:34] <PetefromTn> Well I have been a couple times...
[01:00:41] <Aero-Tec> when you have a index and phase A of the encoder working, what does EMC use for reading the RPM?
[01:00:42] -!- r00t4rd3d has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
[01:00:54] <Aero-Tec> and what is phase A used for?

[01:02:15] -!- gommo has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
[01:02:17] <Aero-Tec> I know the scope can be used to make sure EMC sees it
[01:02:42] <Aero-Tec> but how do you test that every thing is set up 100% right?
[01:03:41] <PetefromTn> you can read it in Hal without power on most likely...
[01:03:47] <PetefromTn> motor power that is..
[01:04:42] <Aero-Tec> not following
[01:04:49] <GammaX-Shop|2> anyone know if theres a page that includes all the changed over directory changes from emc2 to linuxcnc?
[01:04:57] <Aero-Tec> you talking about using the meter?
[01:05:15] <PetefromTn> If you have the encoder hooked up correctly you should be able to turn the axis by hand and watch the numbers change in Hal.

[01:05:29] <PetefromTn> Hal meter I think it is...
[01:05:34] <Aero-Tec> cool
[01:05:47] <PetefromTn> Yeah it is cool... What motor is it going on?
[01:05:57] <Aero-Tec> any idea what part or thing to look at
[01:06:10] <Aero-Tec> lathe spindle
[01:06:12] <PetefromTn> Like I said what motor is it going on?
[01:06:40] <Aero-Tec> the meter has so many thing it see look at. not sure what one to look at with the meter
[01:06:56] <PetefromTn> Okay then it should be on your lathe spindle encoder input in hal. Dunno what the actual name is tho have to peck around..
[01:07:12] <Sharpen047> skunkworks: thanks for the link
[01:07:20] <Aero-Tec> ok
[01:07:21] <Aero-Tec> cool
[01:07:23] <Aero-Tec> thanks
[01:07:25] <PetefromTn> Only one will change state when you turn the spindle by hand LOL...
[01:07:49] <Aero-Tec> it would be a counter I would be looking for
[01:08:02] <PetefromTn> Just make sure you have it wired up right first before you go looking for something that is not there due to an improper hookup LOL
[01:08:13] <PetefromTn> Enc input.
[01:08:22] <PetefromTn> What hardware are you using mesa?

[01:09:01] <Aero-Tec> will close to next
[01:09:03] <PetefromTn> Oh okay Dunno where to look then but it should be in there if you have it hooked up right.
[01:09:05] <Aero-Tec> well
[01:09:25] <PetefromTn> I bought the Mesa 5I25/7I77 combo and thus far it has been kick ass...
[01:09:59] <PetefromTn> tons of I/O and analog servos with feedback closed loop. Whats not to like LOL
[01:10:10] <Aero-Tec> I have a mill and a lathe to upgrade to mesa
[01:10:22] <Aero-Tec> lol
[01:10:25] <GammaX-Shop|2> i got one lathe to convert... once it dies
[01:10:49] <PetefromTn> I am doing my Cincinatti Arrow 500 VMC....

[01:11:18] <PetefromTn> What models?
[01:11:20] <Tom_itx> so git busy
[01:11:32] <PetefromTn> Yes what he said...
[01:11:43] <Aero-Tec> lol
[01:11:53] <PetefromTn> Tom_itx Hey man I received my new Shars CNC vise today...
[01:12:06] <Tom_itx> so get to work
[01:12:13] <Tom_itx> no excuses now
[01:12:30] <PetefromTn> had to install new brakes on the wife's Isuzu Trooper limited so I did not get to do much other than wipe off the grease...
[01:12:38] <PetefromTn> Nope no excuses...
[01:12:59] <Aero-Tec> I am busy, doing this upgrade and them some production runs, then hope to get $$ so I can do upgrades, them more production and more $$ and them do the conversions
[01:13:28] <PetefromTn> Honestly the only thing that I have found I did not like about it was the tension collar seems to be a tad out of round but it works and I may just machine another one..
[01:13:45] -!- henrikl has quit [Quit: henrikl]
[01:14:11] <PetefromTn> The body seems pretty decent and as with most CNC style is ground on most sides. Kinda nicer a tad than my last Chinese Vise that was only ground on the top surfaces

[01:15:51] <Aero-Tec> and then the new ones are about 5 years old
[01:16:04] <PetefromTn> I used to have an RF45 mill from Lathemaster and when I tore it apart to do the CNC retrofit it was mine for over a decade at that point...
[01:16:20] <GammaX-Shop|2> damn!
[01:16:25] <GammaX-Shop|2> thank god I bought a cnc ready pm45!
[01:16:26] <PetefromTn> Even tho the Cinci is considerably nicer I kinda miss having the RF45..
[01:16:48] <PetefromTn> Did not know there was such an animal...
[01:19:56] <Aero-Tec> the lathe is a DF-1237G
[01:20:19] <Aero-Tec> the mill modle just says ASIA
[01:20:21] <Aero-Tec> lol
[01:20:26] <GammaX-Shop|2> lol!
[01:20:30] <Aero-Tec> knee mill
[01:21:00] <PetefromTn> Is the lathe belt driven?
[01:21:06] <Aero-Tec> the new mill is very much like the RF45
[01:21:10] <Aero-Tec> yes
[01:21:27] <Aero-Tec> the new lathe is smaller
[01:21:34] <PetefromTn> I have a 12x36 asian lathe and it has been wonderful for almost 20 years of hard use no.
[01:21:52] <PetefromTn> now.

[01:29:34] <Aero-Tec> they did not have it for the longest time
[01:30:19] <PetefromTn> LOL I used to have that same mill.. It was pretty decent but the travels were kinda short.
[01:32:14] <Aero-Tec> new mill is close to the G0619, but mine has the 3 phase motor

[14:52:12] <PetefromTn> aah.. well can you make a table mounted fixture plate?
[14:52:33] <jdh> vise is mounted so the top/back/wtf of the vise is almost the edge of travel. I forgot that when I mounted it.
[14:52:52] <jdh> yeah, or just use a bigger fixture plate
[14:52:58] <PetefromTn> This CNC vise I bought looks halfway decent but it did not come with any hold down clamps.
[14:53:08] <PetefromTn> Oh okay well can ya move it inboard?
[14:53:26] <jdh> no, it would hit the column
[14:54:32] <PetefromTn> Ya know I had similar problems on the RF45 with the vise I bought. It has a large bit of flashing cast iron on the back of the vise near the column and it forces me to move the vise to the front of the table tee slots so it would clear. That made getting to the back of the vise diffcult at times.
[14:54:59] <jdh> same with this one. I was thinking of cutting it off
[14:55:00] <PetefromTn> The Cincinatti here has 20" of Y travel which I think I am gonna really enjoy LOL.. my RF45 had just under ten....

[14:57:02] <PetefromTn> That is one of the nice things about these CNC vises they do not have that surround but you gotta buy or make clamps to hold them down with. You can also clamp them anywhere you can reach them with the tee slots instead of the two bolt holes in the typical vises. Also if you use the flashing to clamp to on them you usually screw up the paint a good bit too. The CNC vises don't seem to have

[21:21:49] <andypugh> I would suggest that what you need to do is export the EMC2_HOME (Or LINUXCNC_HOME) environment varaible, then the extra cflags line will work.

[21:25:52] <andypugh> Does it say EMC_HOME or LINUXCNC_HOME at the moment?

[21:41:29] <andypugh> not LINUXCNC_HOME ?
[21:44:49] <andypugh> It is possible (but I am guessing here) that you need EXTRA_CFLAGS += -I /usr/include/linuxcnc -Wall
[21:45:27] <GammaX-Shop|2> sorry LINUXCNC_HOME
[21:45:28] <GammaX-Shop|2> EXTRA_CFLAGS += -I$ (LINUXCNC_HOME) /include/linuxcnc -Wall

[21:51:55] <GammaX-Shop|2> env is not showing run in place = no
