[01:21:45] <andypugh> uminded: I do lots of testing in just the HAL layer, and for special-purpose machines it can be useful to just not use the G-code interpreter and GUIs. A single-purpose Python/Glade GUI, and using the limit3 HAL component as the motion controller can be a useful setup.

[04:33:50] <Connor> okay, so. On this Arrow 500 we're working on.. It has a resolver on the motor.. which will be replaced with a encoder... and a proximity switch that's keyed off the spindle pulley. 2:1 ratio.
[04:34:17] <Connor> the Proximity switch has a raised section on 1/2 the pulley, and not on the other half.
[04:35:39] <Connor> I'm thinking that we can use the rising edge, or falling edge as a index.. and use the encoder on the motor and be able to do rigid taping with it. and also be able to position the spindle correct orientation for the ATC.
