[00:57:31] <ednspace> hello?
[00:57:54] <toastydeath> hai
[00:58:23] <ednspace> do you know anything about spindle configuration in emc?
[00:59:04] <toastydeath> nope, sorry
[00:59:17] <ednspace> trying to get a signal thats square wave variable frequency
[00:59:22] <ednspace> instead of pwm
[00:59:44] <ednspace> oh well thought I would check in see if anyone new
[01:00:11] <ednspace> I'll go off and keep trying, thanks
[01:05:50] <dmess> ask rayH
[02:14:32] <jepler> skunkworks: you guys in galesburg?
[02:14:41] <skunkworks> yep - just checked in.
[02:14:51] <jepler> skunkworks: we're back from dinner now
[02:15:08] <skunkworks> suprisingly - we got the exact same room as we had last year.
[02:15:14] <skunkworks> I see that.
[02:15:18] <skunkworks> where did you guys go?
[02:15:57] <jepler> skunkworks: "the packing house"
[02:16:05] <skunkworks> sounds interesting.
[02:16:41] <skunkworks> internet seems a bit worse than last year.
[02:16:48] <skunkworks> but usable
[02:17:13] <jepler> skunkworks: it's a steakhouse basically, but they have some vegetarian entrees and a good salad bar.
[02:17:27] <jepler> skunkworks: coming down tonight or will we see yo utomorrow?
[02:17:41] <skunkworks> jepler: sounds neat.
[02:17:51] <skunkworks> How late are you guys there normally?
[02:18:02] <skunkworks> (I think we may call it a night though)
[02:44:17] <jepler> xskI throw in the towel around 11, john goes for at least another hour
[02:44:25] <jepler> see you tomorrow then
[02:44:51] <skunkworks> jepler: Can't wait. :)
[02:45:28] <skunkworks> xski?
[02:45:44] <skunkworks> oh - 'I'
[02:46:39] <jepler> sory, slow network and I typo'd
[02:47:27] <skunkworks> I figured it out. :) what is so exciting over at the mazak?
[02:48:36] <jepler> they are working on the g-code for this motor mount
[02:48:50] <jepler> and the tool offsets and the fixture offsets
[02:49:25] <skunkworks> Ah - neat
[03:02:57] <jepler> aaaaa
[03:03:04] <jepler> 20 second lag on the internet connection right now...
[03:04:06] <skunkworks> yeck - pages don't load here consistantly. but usable.
[03:32:06] <[1]a-l-p-h-a> [1]a-l-p-h-a is now known as a-l-p-h-a
[03:32:31] <Twingy> does anyone know when the next emc live cd is due out?
[03:36:21] <skunkworks> do you mean the next livecd or the next emc version release. (guess it doesn't matter as I don't know the answer to either)
[03:37:00] <Twingy> livecd.. I want to start discussing the inclusion of gcam in the next one
[03:38:02] <Guest271> Guest271 is now known as skunkworks_
[03:38:46] <skunkworks_> I think you would have to talk to jepler. He is the release manager iirc.
[03:40:10] <Twingy> k, thx
[03:48:35] <jepler> Twingy: actually, alex is the one who makes the cd images and puts the i386 packages in the repository
[03:48:51] <jepler> do you have gcam building .deb files on 8.04 or is that work to be done?
[03:49:29] <jepler> I believe alex plans to make a new cd when rtai 3.6.1 packages and upated kernels are ready, but the gcam package could bbe added to our online package repository at any time
[03:50:15] <jepler> (that means transmitting me and alex the debian source files, we run dpkg-buildpackage and then some other commands to add them to the package repository .. they then are available for installation through synaptic for existing installs)
[03:52:35] <jepler> darn, I can't install sheetcam tng on my laptop, since I'm on amd64
[03:52:35] <jepler> oh well
[03:55:59] <Twingy> jepler: I'm building .deb packages now
[03:56:40] <Twingy> I'll had a hardy .deb avail for next release of gcam (3-4 weeks)
[03:58:13] <jepler> OK, if you can't find me or alex on the channel when the time comes, send an e-mail on the emc-developers list. it should be fairly straightforward to put it into the package repo, and then alex just has to find room on the cd (I'm not sure how far from full it is at this point) whenever that happens
[03:58:38] <jepler> I'm heading out for the night
[04:01:53] <Twingy> kk
[04:02:10] <Twingy> once that is all squared away we can start talking about how to better integrate the two
[04:02:16] <Twingy> i.e. library sharing etc
[05:28:17] <K`zan_emc> I need to build a module for my wireless dongle, the 6.06 apparently comes with nothing to do that, what do I need to add to be able to build the module (make is missing to begin with).
[05:35:58] <K`zan_emc> Not sure if the EMC version is really ubuntu, not sure what I need to add to build a module on this beaste?
[05:36:59] <cradek> you can follow the instructions for regular ubuntu with the only change being the name of the kernel.
[05:37:39] <K`zan_emc> cradek: WIll google some more, thanks.
[05:37:43] <cradek> the kernel headers package will be linux-headers- and then whatever 'uname -r' reports
[05:39:38] <K`zan_emc> Wish ubuntu would do as good a job as wincrap at getting my screen res right, fine for EMC but limited otherwise...
[05:40:07] <cradek> I bet the ubuntu folks would like a bug report that helps them fix it
[05:40:37] <K`zan_emc> I'll bet they would :).
[05:41:23] <K`zan_emc> Actually whatever-reconfigure xserver-xorg will probably work on 6.06, blows up on 8 which is why I am starting over again with 6.
[05:41:44] <K`zan_emc> You can't even install at 640x480
[05:42:11] <cradek> that is obviously not everyone's experience so you must have a kind or combination of hardware that is not handled properly
[05:43:29] <K`zan_emc> 1.6.15-what, sigh
[05:44:05] <K`zan_emc> Probably so. That 2G celeron HP box was a piece of feces in more ways than one. Free was not cheap...
[05:44:19] <cradek> goodnight, I hope you get it worked out.
[05:44:24] <K`zan_emc> On this box, it just doesn't figure out the video card.
[05:44:29] <K`zan_emc> Thanks! Rest well
[07:22:41] <K`zan_emc> test
[07:23:19] <K`zan_emc> up on wireless, life is GOOD!
[07:26:10] <ra3vat> :)
[07:51:21] <K`zan_emc> Now I can get this whole pile out of the "office" and into the shop, will make life so much easier without having to run ~100' worth of ethernet :-) :-) :-)!
[07:51:28] <K`zan_emc> * K`zan_emc does happy dance :-).
[07:51:34] <K`zan_emc> NIght all.
[11:51:42] <The_Ball> is it really a year since the last fest!
[11:52:57] <archivist> so it seems
[13:28:16] <The_Ball> who's in the shop?
[13:40:43] <jepler> looks like stuart (stustev) explaining chris's mill to two guys I don't know
[13:41:46] <cradek> wow it feels like morning came especially early today
[13:44:11] <archivist> middle of the afternoon!!!
[13:46:32] <cradek> sometimes I hear voices from the future...
[13:46:53] <archivist> good beer last night?
[13:47:09] <archivist> or an all nighter coding
[13:47:17] <cradek> I have no such excuse for feeling this way
[13:47:28] <cradek> well, except several late nights in a row
[13:50:26] <jepler> cradek: I got a later start this morning too
[13:50:39] <jepler> in fact I'll just have the slightest bit of trouble making it down to the lobby by 9
[13:51:40] <cradek> me too, from the looks of it
[13:58:13] <alex_joni> well.. 9 is very early imo
[18:40:40] <alSMT> What I miss?(@ fest today)
[18:43:06] <alex_joni> alSMT: doesn't seem like much
[18:43:26] <alex_joni> * alex_joni wonders if that's sam's dad in the picture
[18:44:58] <alSMT> how far are they with the motor mount project?
[18:45:31] <alex_joni> * alex_joni has no idea ;)
[18:45:44] <alex_joni> but I saw them standing around the mazak earlier
[18:46:29] <alSMT> wish we could be there
[18:50:28] <alex_joni> heh, crowded again
[19:02:56] <BigJohnT> hi alex_joni
[19:03:05] <alex_joni> hey BigJohnT
[19:03:37] <alex_joni> hi samco & samco's dad
[19:04:08] <atex57> Could someone there at the fest tell Jon Elson that I sent him an email yesterday, or catch me here.
[19:11:40] <alex_joni> anyone fan of soccer?
[19:18:46] <BigJohnT> nope
[19:26:57] <micges> alex_joni: is there in trunk skeleton for interpreter variables read/write via NML messages ?
[19:27:11] <jmkasunich> we ran the first two operations of the motor mount last night, and the third today
[19:27:18] <alex_joni> hi jmkasunich
[19:27:19] <jmkasunich> the fixture holds three parts
[19:27:21] <jmkasunich> hi alex
[19:28:14] <jmkasunich> part1 gets the first operation - drilling, tapping, and milling holes in the face of the part
[19:28:30] <jmkasunich> then you move it to part 2 for the second op, and install another blank in part 1
[19:28:35] <jmkasunich> part2 cuts the outline
[19:28:48] <jmkasunich> then you move 2->3, and 1->2, and install another blank in 1
[19:28:59] <jmkasunich> part 3 drills and taps holes into the edge of the part
[19:50:47] <micges> I have question:
[19:51:38] <micges> why axis can't do the same bunch of commands that is allowed from g-code ?
[19:52:29] <micges> why I can't execute like : c.set_feedoverride(True) in axis source code ?
[20:04:22] <jepler> micges: you are asking how to do the equivalent of programming M48/M49?
[20:06:31] <jepler> micges: there may not be an NML message that performs this function. however, you can use the message that sends an mdi command, as long as you want to perform this action during a time that it's OK to switch into MDI mode.
[20:09:45] <micges> jepler: where are described emc modes (auto ,mdi , manual) and what is allowed in any of this ?
[20:12:18] <alex_joni> micges: emctaskmain.cc mostly
[20:14:17] <micges> are this on any docs/specification ?
[20:14:30] <alex_joni> not that I know
[20:16:07] <micges> It is strange of sending mdi command to interpreter to set any parameter in canon
[20:18:14] <alex_joni> micges: agreed..
[20:18:40] <alex_joni> simply add a NML command which does that, and sends the proper stuff to canon/motion
[20:19:52] <micges> in emc what role have interpreter ?
[20:20:22] <alex_joni> BigJohnT: still around?
[20:20:46] <BigJohnT> yes
[20:21:08] <micges> alex_joni: adding NML commands is HARD
[20:21:18] <alex_joni> micges: not really
[20:22:52] <micges> alex_joni: I'll try to figure out from UNHOME commits
[20:56:50] <anonimasu> hello
[21:01:56] <alex_joni> hi
[21:02:36] <anonimasu> what's up?
[21:03:40] <alex_joni> not much
[21:03:49] <alex_joni> enjoyed germany's game tonight
[21:03:55] <anonimasu> ok
[21:48:16] <Unition> Unition is now known as Unit41
[21:57:21] <alex_joni> good night all
