[00:10:58] <alex_joni> yay, my new battery grip is here :D
[00:12:08] <alex_joni> extra extra, read all about it : http://dsplabs.utt.ro/~juve/blog/index.cgi/photography
[00:12:11] <alex_joni> ;-)
[00:14:47] <Jacky^> hey alex_joni !
[00:14:52] <Jacky^> :-)
[00:15:36] <Jacky^> great
[00:15:53] <Jacky^> im fighting whith manual ISO settings :/
[00:16:15] <Jacky^> Im just making the photos in this way:
[00:16:34] <Jacky^> made the same photo with all settings Ive
[00:16:37] <Jacky^> 7 in all
[00:16:44] <Jacky^> auahauauau
[00:16:46] <Jacky^> :(
[00:17:58] <Jacky^> I also asked for great angle option for my camera
[00:18:19] <Jacky^> they sayd I just find it in a Sony Assistance Center
[00:19:05] <Jacky^> tomorrow I will try again to join 2-3 photos togheter via Gimp ..
[00:19:50] <Jacky^> alex_joni: http://digilander.libero.it/jackydgl0/pozzuoli/img012.jpeg
[00:21:01] <Jacky^> thats is accidental good photo
[00:21:21] <alex_joni> * alex_joni looks
[00:21:47] <alex_joni> regarding ISO, keep it as low as you can..
[00:22:42] <Jacky^> alex_joni: do you look at camera display to set the best ISO settings ?
[00:23:25] <Jacky^> my camera has a large display, but im not able to understand if the settings are OK looking at display
[00:23:59] <alex_joni> well.. my newer one has a display only for looking at photos after you took them ;)
[00:24:06] <Jacky^> I guess more important is the experience
[00:24:20] <Jacky^> mmhh. ok
[00:26:04] <alex_joni> you only need higher ISO's for dark places, where you don't / can't use the flash
[00:26:19] <alex_joni> the lower the ISO the better the picture, but you have longer exposure
[00:26:44] <alex_joni> s/have/need/
[00:26:59] <alex_joni> so if shooting in very dark rooms, you probably need something like 800 or higher
[00:27:11] <alex_joni> but outside I'd use 100 if possible
[00:27:41] <Jacky^> also k4ts sayd the same thing ..
[00:27:43] <alex_joni> and remember for landscapes small apertures, and long exposures, to get most of the landscape focused
[00:27:54] <Jacky^> she use a tradictional camera (not digital)
[00:27:58] <Jacky^> :(
[00:28:00] <alex_joni> small apertures (high number)
[00:28:16] <alex_joni> get a traditional, and shoot a few rolls.. you'll get a better feeling :)
[00:28:34] <Jacky^> it seems to me the photos I get in auto-mode are too ingray tone
[00:30:24] <Jacky^> I just understood that get a good photos its difficult
[00:30:55] <alex_joni> not really.. you need some luck too
[00:31:11] <alex_joni> when I was shooting film I got about 1 very good picture / roll
[00:31:52] <Jacky^> your photos are good, as colours and as exposure
[00:32:20] <Jacky^> at least, for what I seen mon
[00:32:25] <Jacky^> ago
[00:32:49] <Jacky^> with your old camera
[00:33:43] <Jacky^> * Jacky^ looking again and again at the camera manual ..
[00:34:15] <alex_joni> well my old camera has very good auto stuff
[00:34:31] <alex_joni> it has a horrible menu for non-auto stuff, so I didn't use that very often
[00:36:11] <Jacky^> Im just using auto mode for now ..
[00:36:37] <alex_joni> when you get used to that, try shooting in Av (if your cam has that)
[00:37:02] <alex_joni> that's just like a film camera, you had to set the shutter for the older ones
[00:37:24] <alex_joni> at first set the shutter so you get around 1/125 - 1/500 exposures
[00:37:30] <alex_joni> should be good for most situations
[00:37:39] <Jacky^> ty :)
[00:37:47] <alex_joni> if you want to blur some motion get something like 1/60
[00:38:02] <alex_joni> if you want to freeze some sports, or other actions 1/1000 or higher
[00:38:11] <alex_joni> oh, and get a good book about this ;)
[00:38:22] <Jacky^> :P
[00:38:35] <alex_joni> I got a very nice intro book from National Geographics
[00:38:36] <Jacky^> yeah I read something about it on user manual
[00:38:48] <alex_joni> was about 10-15 EUR iirc
[00:39:03] <alex_joni> very nice, and covers most situations with examples and info
[00:39:49] <Jacky^> nice ;P
[00:40:52] <alex_joni> it's Peter K. Burian , the big National Geographic Photo-Guide
[00:40:56] <alex_joni> 20 EUR
[00:41:16] <Jacky^> thats is good price :)
[00:41:57] <alex_joni> might find it translated to italian
[00:42:36] <Jacky^> that would be nice too, thanks :)
[00:43:28] <alex_joni> I have the ISBN, but I think that's the german version
[00:43:43] <alex_joni> ISBN 3-934385-41-9
[00:44:14] <Jacky^> mm, no. Im far away from german.. I just know some word of english ..

[00:51:41] <Jymmm> it's extremely content rich
[00:52:21] <alex_joni> takes a while to swallow
[00:54:16] <alex_joni> Jacky^: get a few books and read..
[00:54:23] <Jacky^> alex_joni: k4ts have a Minolta Camera

[07:06:59] <Jymmm> fenn yep, and fuzzy too
[11:39:04] <fenn> your hack-n-snack link of the day: http://sprite.student.utwente.nl/~jeroen/projects/mouseeye/
[11:56:01] <alex_joni> morning all
[12:22:58] <cncuser> hi everybody :)
[12:23:09] <cncuser> i just compiled emc2 :)
[12:23:27] <cncuser> woow, nice work, i love the new configurationselector :)
[12:37:33] <cncuser> hmm, the LANG environmental variable doesnt get in effect
[12:37:40] <cncuser> lets see :)
[12:54:51] <cncuser> hmm, well. i may have some error in my setup.
[12:55:41] <cncuser> running emc without arguements and with a configfile supplied does result in no change of localisation
[12:57:11] <cncuser> also the shutdown seems to be really slow... at least in my qemu session ;)
[12:57:57] <cncuser> i havent seen the shutdown complete for 15 minutes... i havent seen it complete ever since i tried the current cvs 1 hour ago :)
[13:26:25] <cncuser> ok, it shutet down :)
[13:31:59] <skunkworks> has anyone been following the stepper issue on the sourceforge list? gene hasket I think.
[14:25:03] <Jacky^> hello
[14:25:14] <cncuser> hi jacky
[14:25:29] <Jacky^> hi cncuser
[14:28:00] <Jacky^> got an earthquake shock 6.7 Richter in Greece at 12:35
[14:28:19] <Jacky^> we have heard it on center Italy :/
[14:28:42] <Jacky^> damn earth .. is moving too much
[14:29:26] <cncuser> jacky: hehe
[14:32:16] <cncuser> i got an unknown option "-arcradius" when trying to run axis. any hint what im missing ?
[14:37:52] <skunkworks> have you installed axis befor or is this the first time? emc2?
[14:38:02] <skunkworks> I love axis:)
[14:38:37] <cncuser> skunkworks: i installed it before, but right now am building the complete environment by hand.
[14:39:17] <skunkworks> eww - no help here. I just follow the directions on axis's site to install on the bdi 4.3. works great
[14:39:25] <cncuser> yep
[14:39:26] <skunkworks> (not a linux person)
[14:39:37] <cncuser> im also not a native linuxperson
[14:39:41] <cncuser> im human
[14:39:45] <skunkworks> ;)
[14:41:05] <jepler> cncuser: "-arcradius" should be recognized and handled by the code in thirdparty/bwidget/notebook.tcl
[14:41:26] <cncuser> hi jepler
[14:41:29] <jepler> hi cncuser
[14:41:40] <cncuser> jepler: hmm, yes..there it hangs.. notebook...
[14:41:43] <jepler> do you want to send me the complete error message?
[14:41:52] <cncuser> jepler: shure, one moment
[14:42:49] <jepler> cncuser: you could also try removing the line about -arcradius from axis.nf or axis.tcl; the effect of -arcradius is only cosmetic, not functional.
[14:43:10] <cncuser> ok, lets see
[14:43:11] <jepler> NoteBook ${pane_top}.tabs \
[14:43:13] <jepler> -borderwidth 2
[14:43:31] <jepler> cncuser: which version of axis are you trying to build? 1.1 or CVS?
[14:43:43] <cncuser> jepler: 1.1
[14:43:54] <jepler> OK, then those lines are in axis.nf.
[14:44:06] <cncuser> jepler: but its for the puppysit devel so if you think i should use cvs ill do
[14:44:12] <cncuser> im allmost finished btw :)))
[14:45:05] <jepler> well, if you want a German translation then you'd have to use CVS. Otherwise, there's not much difference between 1.1 and CVS yet.
[14:45:19] <cncuser> hmm, ok, then i go for the cvs :)
[14:45:25] <jepler> 1.1.1 is probably going to be released later this week with a few small bugfixes.
[14:46:16] <jepler> oh, and in 1.1, the NoteBook line doesn't say ${pane_top}, it says something slightly different
[14:48:32] <cncuser> should i paste the error in here ?
[14:48:44] <jepler> can you do it in a private message?
[14:56:00] <ottos> hello all...
[14:57:57] <jepler> good morning
[15:00:45] <cncuser> good morning ottos
[15:00:47] <Jacky^> hi
[15:08:01] <alex_joni> morning all
[15:08:35] <Jacky^> hi alex_joni
[15:09:15] <alex_joni> what's up Jacky^ ?
[15:10:59] <Jacky^> well, tryng to get Pandora working .. I had some issue compiling the tarball and GTK
[15:11:17] <alex_joni> don't open the box
[15:11:26] <Jacky^> now swithing to Hugin, to create panoramic photos
[15:11:43] <Jacky^> got a lots of error tryng to compile it
[15:12:04] <Jacky^> Im tired to reboot in windows anytime to create a panoramic
[15:12:36] <Jacky^> I added deb in apt for Hugin, may im now ableto get it , going to try ..
[15:14:28] <CIA-1> 03alex_joni * 10emc2/src/emc/task/ (emccanon.cc emctaskmain.cc): now both EMMOTION_* and EMC_AUX_* get to motion, they only get issued at different moments. M62/M63 are synched with motion, and are not marked 'now', M64/M65 are issued right after the command gets to motion.
[15:15:49] <ottos> does anyone know how to reverse the encodign on quadruple encoder...and keep the rotation the same?
[15:16:31] <CIA-1> 03alex_joni * 10emc2/src/emc/motion/emcmotcfg.h: added EMCMOT_MAX_DIO define for motion synched IO's
[15:16:47] <alex_joni> ottos: how do you mean that?
[15:17:59] <cncuser> good morning alex
[15:18:00] <ottos> well. I've finally installed emc bdi with motenc.. alll ok however +V results in negative enc feed rate...when reversing direction in the servo amp, it flips the enc. as well..
[15:19:01] <CIA-1> 03alex_joni * 10emc2/src/emc/motion/ (motion.c mot_priv.h): added hal pins for motion synched digital outs
[15:19:01] <alex_joni> inverse the scale
[15:19:11] <ottos> how?
[15:19:24] <alex_joni> in the ini: say : SCALE -xxx
[15:19:35] <alex_joni> don't have in mind the exact namings..
[15:19:47] <alex_joni> just put a - in front of the axis scale number
[15:19:53] <alex_joni> the first number iirc
[15:20:25] <ottos> ok.. will try...
[15:20:27] <CIA-1> 03paul_c 07wps_multiplat_dev_branch * 10rcslib/src/cms/tcpmem.cc:
[15:20:27] <CIA-1> Fixed an error in the setting of the timeval struct in reconnect(). As it stood,
[15:20:27] <CIA-1> it ended up being the fractional part of timeout raised to 1e6 resulting in
[15:20:27] <CIA-1> anything from zero to several days - Probably not what was intended !
[15:22:16] <cncuser> puppysit devel edition is allmost finished....the axis part should be complete within this day i hope. http://box.hinternet.at/puppysit-mastering-howto.abw , havent put together the scripts till now.
[15:22:51] <alex_joni> cncuser: hi there
[15:23:09] <alex_joni> did you get a chance to look why pupisit has the problems, and the first iso didn't ?
[15:23:52] <cncuser> alex_ joni: i tried it on a few computers, had no problems getin X running. no i didnt look any more
[15:24:41] <cncuser> alex_ joni: the new puppy also has xorg as a possible Xsevrer so the chance to get it running are allmost doubled ;)
[15:25:21] <alex_joni> well.. I only know that a few people reported problems with it
[15:25:22] <CIA-1> 03alex_joni * 10emc2/src/emc/motion/command.c: final part to make M62..65 work, they work now as described
[15:27:11] <CIA-1> 03alex_joni * 10emc2/src/emc/kinematics/tp.c: added function call to emcmotAioWrite() which doesn't do anything for now, but makes it easier to extend later on
[15:28:39] <cncuser> alex_joni: i focus on the develrelease. for the last releases where kind a hacks. i cant even reproduce them :( the new release has a allmost automated buildsystem. reduces errors intorduced by the idiot sitting infront of my screen. ;)
[15:30:40] <alex_joni> sounds great :)
[15:30:58] <alex_joni> did you like the new emc2 config stuff?
[15:31:21] <cncuser> yes its great
[15:31:32] <cncuser> <cncuser> i just compiled emc2 :)
[15:31:33] <cncuser> <cncuser> woow, nice work, i love the new configurationselector :)
[15:32:20] <skunkworks> so if I run emc2 without a ini described - a menu will come up?
[15:32:23] <alex_joni> cncuser: check out the new halconfig.tcl stuff, ray has been working on
[15:32:28] <alex_joni> skunkworks: yes
[15:32:33] <skunkworks> nice
[15:32:41] <alex_joni> skunkworks: and it will ask you to choose a config you like to run
[15:33:56] <skunkworks> very nice - I has been a week or two - I need to update emc2 and axis
[15:34:44] <ottos> alex_joni, thank you it worked, nod the PID works...btw do you any one who installed emc in servo torque mode..?
[15:45:45] <rayh> logger_aj: bookmark
[15:45:45] <rayh> See http://solaris.cs.utt.ro/irc/irc.freenode.net:6667/emc/2006-01-08#T15-45-45
[15:51:15] <rayh> ottos: asked "servo torque mode"
[15:51:28] <rayh> The Mazak at Cardinal runs in that mode.
[15:52:31] <rayh> Including the spindle unless you are orienting or (cutting threads when that happens.)
[15:53:28] <jmk_sleep> ray: not true (at least for the spindle). the spindle drive has an internal velocity loop, using motor the analog tach for speed feedback
[15:53:55] <rayh> thanks jmk sorry for the error.
[15:54:33] <rayh> guess I was thinking of the first attempts to run it without tach.
[15:56:03] <rayh> btw for all his protestations that he is a tuning amateur, jmk_sleep did a very nice job of tuning on that machine using halscope and intuition.
[15:56:56] <alex_joni> morning john
[15:57:28] <jmk_sleep> many hours of trial and error mostly... I can only tune when I am sitting in front of the scope and machine, I'm hopeless at helping others to tune
[15:57:31] <jmk_sleep> hi alex
[15:57:38] <jmk_sleep> I guess I should de-lurk
[15:57:42] <jmk_sleep> jmk_sleep is now known as jmkasunich
[15:59:44] <alex_joni> well, I finished with M62..65
[15:59:54] <jmkasunich> saw the commits - great work
[16:00:00] <rayh> Can anyone report on installing BDI-4.38
[16:00:11] <alex_joni> rayh: not yet :(
[16:00:16] <alex_joni> but I plan to soon..
[16:00:19] <rayh> Had a report of it not finding a cdrom drive.
[16:01:33] <alex_joni> after install? or during :D hope it was not the one where it was stuck in...
[16:01:57] <rayh> No after the install using the drive, it didn't recognize the drive.
[16:02:21] <rayh> Not the bent paperclip solution.
[16:03:10] <alex_joni> I was thinking of extending M62..65 with a command the other way around
[16:03:25] <jmkasunich> ?
[16:03:26] <alex_joni> have some inputs that can be read from M codes in the interp
[16:03:51] <jmkasunich> but what would you do once you read them? branching or something>
[16:03:55] <jmkasunich> s/>/?
[16:04:07] <alex_joni> then with ken lerman's functions and if/then you could do some basic stuff
[16:04:16] <rayh> I would like to see option stop and skip block implemented.
[16:04:22] <rayh> they would need to go that way.
[16:04:50] <jmkasunich> question: are we getting ahead of ourselves? these sound like version 2.1 or 2.2 things
[16:05:04] <alex_joni> even if you say: if input xx, call function yy
[16:05:11] <alex_joni> jmkasunich: you are right, not for this release
[16:05:19] <alex_joni> thinking a bit ahead ;)
[16:05:22] <jmkasunich> (the work that alex already did is very good for this release)
[16:05:38] <alex_joni> he says without even looking at it .. :P
[16:05:50] <alex_joni> but I'm glad for the vote of confidence ;)
[16:06:11] <rayh> Well the two I mentioned were implemented in the K&T test long ago but have not been active since.
[16:06:26] <jmkasunich> I was referring to the fact that getting M62, etc working is appropriate for version 2.0, not to the quality of the work ;-P
[16:06:34] <rayh> I'm up for 2.2
[16:07:05] <alex_joni> we need to get to 2.6, that seems to be current ;)
[16:08:36] <ottos> bdi 4.38 not recognising serial mouse...
[16:10:05] <alex_joni> jmkasunich, rayh : please add a short notice of what you do to emc2/docs/NEWS
[16:10:13] <rayh> thanks for that ottos
[16:10:32] <rayh> oh okay.
[16:10:32] <alex_joni> jmkasunich: for example when you added the setup config tcl
[16:10:39] <alex_joni> rayh: and your halconfig.tcl ;)
[16:10:54] <alex_joni> it makes it easier to have a release log ready..
[16:12:33] <cradek> hi all
[16:12:38] <alex_joni> morning chris
[16:13:20] <CIA-1> 03alex_joni * 10emc2/docs/NEWS: described the recent progress, probably I missed some.. please look yourselves
[16:16:45] <CIA-1> 03rayhenry * 10emc2/docs/NEWS: halconfig.tcl notice
[16:19:25] <rayh> speaking of halconfig.tcl I'd like a bit of input on save.
[16:20:03] <alex_joni> 17:23 < CIA-1> paul_c wps_multiplat_dev_branch * rcslib/src/cms/tcpmem.cc:
[16:20:03] <alex_joni> 17:23 < CIA-1> Fixed an error in the setting of the timeval struct in
[16:20:03] <alex_joni> reconnect(). As it stood,
[16:20:04] <alex_joni> 17:23 < CIA-1> it ended up being the fractional part of timeout raised to 1e6
[16:20:04] <alex_joni> resulting in
[16:20:06] <alex_joni> 17:23 < CIA-1> anything from zero to several days - Probably not what was
[16:20:20] <alex_joni> darn, not what I wanted...
[16:21:47] <cradek> didn't know there was an active branch there
[16:22:31] <cradek> although I still don't see the change in webcvs.
[16:22:32] <alex_joni> me neither
[16:23:42] <rayh> wps_multiplat_dev_branch is will shakelford's work.
[16:24:28] <cradek> the change is 4.35.2.26
[16:24:54] <rayh> Sometime back he built an xml interface to rt so that nist could build an automated welding cell that folk could check status using a web browser.
[16:25:22] <ottos> rayh: would you have any details on the servo torque mode on the mazak? .ini anything..?
[16:25:51] <cradek> paul's change fixes a definite bug
[16:25:59] <rayh> All of the tuning stuff is in emc2/configs/mazak
[16:26:02] <alex_joni> is that in HEAD aswell?
[16:26:24] <rayh> Don't think you can start it up but you can look at the values assigned by jmk.
[16:27:00] <rayh> the most relevant ones would be param pid.x.xxxx
[16:27:39] <cradek> alex_joni: yes HEAD is wrong
[16:28:00] <alex_joni> odd to fix only the branch then..
[16:28:48] <cradek> maybe he just hasn't done HEAD yet
[16:29:11] <cradek> or didn't notice -- the code looks different
[16:29:29] <alex_joni> it's not in emc2, probably not used in normal emc1 either
[16:30:00] <cradek> TCPMEM::reconnect
[16:30:07] <cradek> (no idea what it is)
[16:30:50] <alex_joni> the reconnect to the TCP mem, seems clear to me ;)
[16:30:54] <rayh> looks like paul caught on to what will was trying to do.
[16:31:29] <rayh> I built this branch a while back and tried out some of the tcp stuff.
[16:31:45] <ottos> is linuxcnc.org down?
[16:32:31] <alex_joni> doesn't work from here..
[16:32:37] <ottos> hmmm...
[16:33:17] <rayh> seems to be down. Where's steves_logging when you really need him?
