[03:16:42] <pcw_home> pncconf looks for them in the normal firmware path
[03:17:11] <cradek> ah so they need to be in the hm2 deb, not the linuxcnc deb?
[03:17:27] <cradek> er - but the 5i25 doesn't need any hm2 deb does it
[03:17:41] <cradek> is this why it's hard?
[03:20:56] <pcw_home> I guess (that and the fact the the xml files were made by the firmware build script)
[03:23:04] <pcw_home> no reason not to include the 5i25 bitfiles along with the xml files either
[03:23:15] <pcw_home> (other than size)
[03:23:47] <cradek> since it's an optional package, a little more size isn't very important
[03:24:09] <seb_kuzminsky> i think we need a new vhdl push from you (peter), and we probably need updates to the debian packaging of the hostmot2 firmwares, then the buildbot should produced debs for us

[22:42:40] <cradek> (it was a simpler time...)
[22:50:37] <seb_kuzminsky> sad in a wistful reminiscent way or in a "seb made a bad commit" way?
[22:55:23] <andypugh> "LinuxCNC: Making code to make stuff."

[23:01:13] <seb_kuzminsky> the old README Mission Statement seems like more of a todo list
[23:01:27] <seb_kuzminsky> a catchy slogan like andypugh's might be a fun idea
[23:03:11] <andypugh> It's only any good if it is done ironically, though. And it is a commonly believed fact that Americans think that "irony" has a similar meaning to "silvery" or "steely"
[23:04:14] <seb_kuzminsky> i can't tell if you're serious or not

[23:07:08] <andypugh> I borrowed the phrase "commonly believed fact" from a friend who is technically American. I rather like it.
[23:09:31] <andypugh> my wittering here is due to me watching a slow kernel compile scroll by.
[23:13:51] <seb_kuzminsky> your udoo isn't mercurial enough for you?
[23:15:22] <andypugh> Not the number of compiles I am doing. There is a cross-compiler but that just seemed likely to add places to go wrong.
[23:15:59] <andypugh> And it isn't awful. In fact it is a lot faster than the Dual Xeon server that I first compiled RTAI on.
[23:16:09] <andypugh> (Gen 1 Xeons, that is)
[23:17:22] <seb_kuzminsky> i want to stand up an ARM virtual machine for the buildbot, rather than have a shelf full of shitty little embedded computers
[23:18:03] <andypugh> I wonder if Yocto would be any help there?
[23:21:48] <andypugh> Just trying to figure out what the 1U server running my lathe really is. It looks like dual "Prestonia" Xeons, which are P4. There is a warning "Intel Server Board SE7501CW2 is designed to provide up to 65A per processors. Processors with higher current requirements are not supported." I have to say that 65A seems like really quite a lot of current.
[23:24:15] <skunkworks> I wonder if they got W and A mixed up
[23:25:46] <andypugh> They run at 1.5V so the numbers are similar.
[23:26:47] <andypugh> 85W CPUs
[23:28:46] <andypugh> Interesting to look at the Xeon power requirements, they build steadily up to Xeon 7020 "Paxville" at 165W and then start to ramp down again
[23:34:12] <andypugh> Somebody at Freescale like if - else constructions without brackets. I am not sure I like that
