[01:25:57] <andypugh> "encoder supports a maximum of eight channels." Is there a good reason for that limit? It's not inherent to any of the datatypes, I suspect.

[18:08:25] <mhaberler> some highlights here: http://www.codecandies.com
[18:13:04] <psha> nice :)
[18:21:42] -!- joe9 has quit [Quit: leaving]
[18:22:59] <mhaberler> some seem ready for inclusion in linuxcnc; maybe at the next spring cleaning
[18:24:46] -!- vladimirek has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[18:31:49] <andypugh> You intend putting in amusing comments?
[18:32:39] <andypugh> I am a lot more conservartive in my LinuxCNC commenting than when I am commenting only for myself.
[18:37:21] <mhaberler> this was a joke.
[18:38:02] <mhaberler> That said, I find that some corners of linuxcnc would benefit from it, so other people try to read the code and also dont get it at least can have a laugh
[18:38:57] <andypugh> Some bits of LinuxCNC are rather well commented. Some hardly are at all.
[18:39:31] <andypugh> It's almost like it was written by several different people with different agendas and schedules.
[18:40:19] <mhaberler> unfortunately 'well commented' and 'understandable without comments' is highly correlated;)
[18:41:07] -!- WalterN has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[18:52:16] -!- syyl_ws has quit [Quit: Verlassend]
[19:07:06] <jthornton> any of you Glade3 python gurus want to look at my pitiful tutorials for gross errors
[19:11:30] -!- gmagno has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
[19:18:45] -!- ve7it [ve7it!~LawrenceG@S0106001c10b7770f.pk.shawcable.net] has joined #linuxcnc-devel
[19:25:01] <mhaberler> sure
[19:25:04] <mhaberler> where?
[19:35:26] <jthornton> http://gnipsel.com/glade/index.html
[19:36:29] <andypugh> Has anyone looked at rogge's(?) lathe-style toolchanging?
[19:40:28] <psha> heh, i've hit very bad thing with glade - new version creates UI files exclusively for gtk3

[19:51:23] <JT-Shop> yikes
[19:53:37] -!- mhaberler [mhaberler!~mhaberler@macbook.stiwoll.mah.priv.at] has joined #linuxcnc-devel
[19:56:58] <mhaberler> jthornton: this is in fact very well done and a lot better than most of the stuff out there (actually I learned something, never did menu bars)
[19:57:32] <mhaberler> I spotted no errors - are you planning to do gladevcp stuff eventually as well?
[19:59:45] <JT-Shop> mhaberler: yes, I had some trouble grasping the concept and serched for quite some time so I decided to cobble up what I learned as I go in a tutorial
[20:00:01] <mhaberler> I'm with you..
[20:00:06] <JT-Shop> I hope after this gladebvcp will be easier for me to work with
[20:00:08] -!- demacus has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[20:00:42] cylly is now known as Loetmichel
[20:02:00] <mhaberler> I found some of the widgets tough to grasp - radiobutton groups are non-obvious, and dropdown lists with text and preset values took watching a youtube video to get right
[20:03:08] <mhaberler> consistent, nice-looking layout is still a hit-and-miss game for me
[20:03:10] <JT-Shop> it took me forever to figure out the status bar LOL
[20:04:18] <mhaberler> yeah, the code shows you were proud of it ;)
[20:04:32] <JT-Shop> :)
[20:05:52] <JT-Shop> thanks for looking at it
[20:07:03] <mhaberler> sure - I'm happy to review or add if you want
[20:09:03] <JT-Shop> if you have some good info that can be added that would be great

[21:34:07] <cradek> got a patch I can see?

[21:44:13] <andypugh> Not yet. Just pondering while something else does its thing.
[21:48:23] <cradek> both those things are nontrivial enough that I'm 99% sure it should go in master
[21:58:16] <andypugh> All the cool kids run Master anyway.
