[13:43:31] <stfwi> Hi guys, can I ask a short question about the implementation of the synchronised flag in the trajgen? I was wandering if this is only used (set to 1) for rigid taps or generally or generally for coordinated motions where the spindle is on. Someone into this matter?
[13:43:42] -!- Jymmm has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[13:56:41] <jepler> stfwi: only for spindle synchronized motion like g33, rigid tap, threading cycle
[13:58:36] <stfwi> Thanks - I was already wandering where the variable is set
[14:00:16] <jepler> I can't conveniently look at the source at the moment, but I suspect a canon call turns the flag on and off, and the current vakue of the flag is copied into each trajectory item before sending to motion (these steps happen in task in userspace)
[14:02:05] <stfwi> Yes, it must be in the command section, the motion ctrl code only resets the value. Thanks again, I'll try to find it.
[14:05:22] <jepler> START_FEED_SPEED_SYNCH and STOP_ in emccanon.cc
[14:05:57] <jepler> is a good place to start looking at the userspace/task part of it.

[16:01:48] <cradek> but yeah - a lot of noise on the list in the last few days - wow
[16:02:27] <mhaberler> yep, my post is sortof a social experiment
[16:02:55] <mhaberler> but I think sometimes the issue is NOT getting a bug fixed
[16:07:49] <JT-Shop> when the list gets too busy I just delete them all as it is too hard to follow a thread when it dives off of the cliff

[18:22:30] <jepler> IchGuckLive: network problems are affecting the availability of git.linuxcnc.org.
[18:23:15] <IchGuckLive> ok
[18:23:25] <IchGuckLive> NP i try tomorrow
[18:23:44] <IchGuckLive> maybe solar storm is the problem to europ O.O
[18:24:17] <jepler> no, I am pretty sure it's the last kilometer to the git server that is the problem
[18:24:57] <IchGuckLive> isent it in a cloud
[18:24:58] <jepler> there's not much new in the last 24 hours in git, so you should be able to work from your existing clones
[18:25:18] <jepler> (for instance, you can commit, switch branch, and so on without the server present)
[18:25:29] <IchGuckLive> my last clone is from 5Jan
[18:25:33] <jepler> and if you want a "new clone", just make a copy of an existing one, then "git reset" it to where you want
[18:25:39] <jepler> oh, that's a slightly different story then
[18:26:06] <IchGuckLive> i looking to start with G2/G3 effects now

[18:39:58] <jepler> hi GoSebGo. I think I spotted you in the sparkfun boulder hackerspace photos.
[18:40:38] <GoSebGo> Hm, i havent seen those
[18:41:10] <jepler> http://www.sparkfun.com/news/821
[18:41:23] <jepler> I think you're standing behind the guy in "we managed to fill it up rather quickly", f'rinstance
[18:42:35] <GoSebGo> Oh yeah!
[18:43:43] <GoSebGo> In the "our first meeting" pic the guy on the right in the foreground is lepton, it's his shopbot i'm working on
[18:44:04] <jepler> aja
[18:44:34] <GoSebGo> Jepler is becoming polish
[18:44:44] <jepler> keyboard-to-finger registration error
[18:45:28] <GoSebGo> Keep your index finger on the j-tit
[18:45:41] <jepler> shamefully enough, my right hand had just been on the mouse.
[18:46:27] * GoSebGo reaches for the hand sanitizer to kill the taint
[18:46:29] <jepler> so in git can we ever remove branches or tags that are no longer particularly useful?
[18:46:57] <GoSebGo> Branches yes, dont know about tags
[18:47:18] <jepler> There is a 'git push' syntax to delete tags on the remote
[18:47:34] <GoSebGo> Use the "src:dest" syntax with an empty src to remove a dest branch
[18:47:44] <jepler> I think it's the same for tags
[18:47:45] <GoSebGo> Git push origin :delme
[18:47:51] <GoSebGo> Cool
[18:48:58] <psha> wow, nice
[18:50:06] <jepler> it's more a question of: what's the consequence of these deletions, and/or will pushes from people who had the branches or tags locally keep putting them back..
[18:50:45] <jepler> but I think this "bdi-4" branch and "kbuild-0-1" branch are some examples of branches nobody would miss
[18:51:04] <GoSebGo> If someone pushes that branch, we'll get it back, sure
[18:51:35] <GoSebGo> But they'd have to have a local branch tracking that branch on origin
[18:51:56] <jepler> and tags aren't pushed except by 'git push --tags'?
[18:51:57] <GoSebGo> (or push it explicitly)
[18:52:05] <GoSebGo> Donno
[18:53:19] <GoSebGo> If i was a gambling man, i'd guess that heavy tags are pushed by default & light tags are not
[18:54:31] <GoSebGo> We should form a committe to assign someone an avtion item to go read the manpage & prepare a report to the board of directors
[18:55:26] <jepler> looks like even with push.default = matching (the default) tags aren't pushed

[19:04:32] <GoSebGo> Oh hey, kerry's in one of the pics too, the last one

[19:05:28] <jepler> aha
[19:05:30] <jepler> and there's a dog
[19:06:02] <GoSebGo> The guy sitting by the mame cabinet on the right is rob, he's building a lathe using the gingery method
[19:06:30] <GoSebGo> We do a bunch of machoning for it (& other projects) on my bridgeport
[19:06:41] <jepler> next time I make it to boulder maybe you can take me to SSD
[19:06:58] <GoSebGo> Tonight we're working on a bicycle rear hub he's designed
[19:07:07] <GoSebGo> Yeah i'd like that jeff
[19:07:16] <jepler> our next travel is to Missouri at the end of the month. Ingrid's brother recently moved to Columbia for a job.
[19:07:20] <GoSebGo> Come on a tuesday or saturday
[19:07:54] <jepler> I'll try to remember
[19:08:01] <GoSebGo> Google "robs red bike" for info on it, it's wacky fun
[19:08:32] <jepler> since git.l.o is down at the moment, I went ahead and set up a mirror of the main repository on github: https://github.com/jepler/linuxcnc-mirror
[19:08:54] <jepler> if I got my scripts right, it'll be updated daily
[19:09:07] <jepler> if it makes your workflow better feel free to fork it, but don't bother submitting pull requests.
[19:09:16] <GoSebGo> I'm planning to be in lincoln for a few days at the end of the month, i hope we'll overlap some
[19:09:38] <jepler> march 29 - april 1 is when I'll be out of town
[19:10:21] <GoSebGo> Crap
[19:10:47] <jepler> bad luck
[19:11:33] <jepler> this is a real weird-looking conflict resolution! http://pastebin.com/DV5SNt8f

[19:13:49] <jepler> hum, github is terribly broken in the way it shows whitespace. :(
[19:14:04] <GoSebGo> Hi cradek

[19:14:16] <jepler> apparently tabs are shown as 4 spaces
[19:14:28] <jepler> which makes the already-slightly-wonky indentation here look even worse
[19:15:14] <GoSebGo> Tabs should be illegal
[19:15:37] <jepler> that's not exactly the argument I want to have at the moment
[19:15:53] * GoSebGo blinks
[19:16:06] <GoSebGo> Jepler's not feeling argumentative?!
[19:16:55] <jepler> if you're going to hard-code the tab stop to a single value in your code viewer (as opposed to giving a choice of different options), it seems like 8 is the least worst choice
[19:18:22] <cradek> sorry, it's all fixed now
[19:18:46] <GoSebGo> Thx chris :-)
[19:19:47] <cradek> now I have to fix the fan in my cheap new case's power supply
[19:19:51] <jepler> you're our hero for running the git server anyhow
[19:19:53] <cradek> what total crap

[19:20:42] <cradek> it's lasts-at-least-a-month(TM) brand
[19:29:51] <jepler> well, really this time, I'm going to go have lunch
[19:32:30] <cradek> so what did I miss?
[19:32:41] <jepler> cradek: we switched to github
[19:33:03] <jepler> or rather, I created a mirror of our main git repository on github that I'll keep updated by script. https://github.com/jepler/linuxcnc-mirror
[19:33:14] <cradek> it's awesome that anybody can do that, using any old clone they have around
[19:33:21] <jepler> yes
