[09:27:18] <alex_joni> jepler: can it be that there's a limit on obj size in vismach?
[09:27:28] <alex_joni> I loaded a couple of obj's and get a "stack overflow"
[09:27:44] <alex_joni> if I don't Collate() them, then it loads, but still errors "invalid operation"
[10:44:08] <alex_joni> cradek: ping.. question about lathe, tool 6 vs. 8 and G2 vs G3
[11:20:00] <SWPadnos> don't ask to ask, just ask ;)
[11:21:39] <alex_joni> it requires coordinated discussions ;)
[11:23:49] <alex_joni> on a lathe where the tool is behind the Oz axis
[11:24:10] <SWPadnos> heh, ok :)
[11:24:16] <alex_joni> the cooltool guys have such a lathe, where the tool post is on the other side
[11:24:26] <alex_joni> they did invert the X coordinates, so it makes sense
[11:24:32] <alex_joni> but G2/G3 arcs are inverted
[11:24:40] <SWPadnos> yes
[11:24:51] <alex_joni> any idea how to get rid of that?
[11:24:56] <SWPadnos> err
[11:25:04] <SWPadnos> no, not really
[11:25:20] <SWPadnos> it's due to the right-hand coordinate system, it's not a bug
[11:25:55] <SWPadnos> I wonder if the geometry setting in AXIS works in lathe mode
[11:26:05] <SWPadnos> so you could do -x-z or something
[11:26:13] <alex_joni> only -x
[11:26:19] <SWPadnos> oh
[11:26:26] <alex_joni> z doesn't change if I understand it correctly
[11:27:52] <SWPadnos> yeah, I don't really know
[11:28:10] <SWPadnos> hmmml. I forgot to start the coffee pot. brb
[11:34:58] <SWPadnos> now this is funny: http://www.neweggmall.com/Product/2008379710/product.html
[11:53:46] <alex_joni> SWPadnos: I got one for my mom, but she hates it :D
[11:54:19] <SWPadnos> I missed the "electronic" Part at first, I thought it was a smoking starter kit ;)
[11:54:26] <SWPadnos> much funnier that way
[11:55:04] <alex_joni> heh
[11:55:19] <alex_joni> how about a coffee starter kit? :P
[11:55:31] <SWPadnos> oh. I should go get some
[12:00:39] <alex_joni> YAAAAAY..
[12:00:41] <alex_joni> made it work
[12:02:06] <alex_joni> jepler: any idea why vismach: AsciiOBJ() -> glNewList(self.list, GL_COMPILE) works, and glNewList(self.list, GL_COMPILE_AND_EXECUTE) doesn't ?
[12:19:56] <jepler> alex_joni: I don't immediately spot the problem, but using GL_COMPILE and changing the 'else' to be unconditional should be just fine.
[12:20:37] <jepler> http://emergent.unpy.net/index.cgi-files/sandbox/vismach-alex3.patch
[12:20:39] <alex_joni> I didn't change the else, and I presume the first execution is without showing, but the subsequent redraws are ok
[12:20:48] <jepler> right, that would be the consequence
[12:21:15] <alex_joni> * alex_joni starts to grep things :D
[12:24:11] <alex_joni> 2 more components ;)
[12:24:59] <alex_joni> ~6400 faces so far, working great
[12:25:49] <jepler> Collate()?
[12:25:54] <jepler> Collection()?:
[12:26:18] <alex_joni> err.. sorry?
[12:35:25] <jepler> 04:27:41 <alex_joni> if I don't Collate() them, then it loads, but still errors "invalid operation"
[12:35:30] <jepler> I'm not sure what you're talking about
[12:35:45] <alex_joni> that was before I change to GL_COMPILE
[12:35:56] <alex_joni> simply loading 2 OBJs, somehow worked
[12:36:12] <alex_joni> if I tried to link them together, then it failed with "stack overflow"
[12:53:26] <alex_joni> wheeee.. this is fun
[12:53:41] <alex_joni> loading 6 siggens, and hooking up siggen.*.sine to the joint positions
[12:55:08] <jepler> don't hurt yourself
[12:55:11] <jepler> bbl
[12:55:21] <SWPadnos> oh come on. at least use cos on one or two so you get circles
[12:55:33] <alex_joni> I get nice lissajous (SP)
[12:55:49] <SWPadnos> nontrivkins?
[12:56:00] <alex_joni> it only works in joint space so far
[12:57:20] <alex_joni> http://imagebin.ca/view/1CdcypzH.html
[12:59:27] <SWPadnos> ack. hairball :)
[13:01:40] <alex_joni> 14k faces
[13:02:13] <SWPadnos> funny how that's big for us but tiny for a video game
[13:04:22] <alex_joni> it feels fine, even here
[13:04:35] <alex_joni> and it's running RT inside a VM
[13:46:07] <SWPadnos> gah. idiots
[13:53:17] <SWPadnos> sorry cradek, it looks like you'll have to sign the slip on your door so they'll leave the stuff tomorrow
[13:57:32] <cradek> fffff
[13:58:15] <jepler> yay fedex
[13:58:19] <SWPadnos> that was 10 minutes after you left for work, no doubt
[13:58:21] <cradek> there was even someone home
[13:58:27] <SWPadnos> very strange
[13:58:35] <SWPadnos> I wonder if they tried to deliver it to the wrong place
[14:02:03] <cradek> Delivery exception: Customer taking dump at wrong time - customer should have used UPS
[14:02:52] <SWPadnos> heh
[14:03:25] <SWPadnos> I didn't know it would require a signature. I didn't select specifically that option
[14:03:35] <skunkworks_> I just had one that needed a signature. Marked on the tag - retry tomorrow between 10:00 and 2:00. I just took a long lunch which turned into a really long lunch as it didn't show up until after 5
[14:03:40] <SWPadnos> they usually leave stuff here, unless it's specially marked
[14:04:40] <cradek> we always use UPS and they always leave it in our neighborhood
[14:08:24] <SWPadnos> live and learn I guess
[14:08:56] <cradek> no problem, not life-or-death or anything
[14:11:07] <SWPadnos> nope. just annoying :)
[14:11:26] <SWPadnos> gotta eat more (or less) beans so this doesn't happen again :)
[18:41:19] <alex_joni> hi seb
[18:41:25] <seb_kuzminsky> hi ya
