[01:00:26] <jepler> we'll see if this goes anywhere: https://answers.launchpad.net/apport/+question/32916
[01:45:40] <cradek> and then boris makes a frowny face that looks like this. see attached image:
[02:03:55] <jepler> well here's a word I never knew before: http://www.answers.com/echt
[02:32:41] <cradek> looks like a typo
[02:34:11] <steve_stallings> steve_stallings is now known as steves_logging
[12:30:17] <Guest316> Guest316 is now known as skunkworks_
[13:19:00] <jepler> boy I completely missed the kde / hardy / lts s**tstorm .. and I can't say I'm sorry I did.
[13:20:09] <SWPLinux> I guess I did too. phew
[13:21:07] <jepler> for those who don't read the rtai mailing list where this came up: Ubuntu 8.04 is an LTS release with 3 years of support, but KUbuntu 8.04 is *not*; it only gets 18 months.
[13:21:24] <SWPLinux> oh. that's interesting
[13:21:32] <SWPLinux> is xubuntu LTS?
[13:22:35] <jepler> The xubuntu.org web page does not call it lts but says "it will receive security updates until June 2011".
[13:22:48] <SWPLinux> ok
[13:23:46] <SWPLinux> I guess people don't realize that xubuntu, kubuntu, and edubuntu (plus ubuntu studio ...) aren't "official" releases, they're derivatives that canonical helps out
[13:23:53] <SWPLinux> or something like that
[13:25:40] <jepler> seems that on 8.04 you can get either kde 3.5 or kde 4.0, just to make matters even more complicated
[13:26:15] <SWPLinux> yep - I remember seeing something about that
[13:26:24] <jepler> aren't you a kde guy?
[13:26:59] <SWPLinux> I'v eused it, but I don't really care about desktops much
[13:27:17] <alex_joni> actually the LTS seems to be a cherry placed by Canonical
[13:27:35] <alex_joni> and is only marginally related to the release per se (people working on the release)
[13:27:56] <alex_joni> the issue with Kubuntu 8.04 is KDE 4.0 which is brand new, and might be too unstable for long term support
[13:28:08] <alex_joni> and the stable 3.5 will probably be forgotten in 2-3 years
[13:31:27] <jepler> I'm not too concerned about it either
[16:27:30] <fenn_> fenn_ is now known as fenn
[22:41:27] <jepler> hm -- scaragui et al don't seem to be in the emc2 package!
[22:41:57] <jepler> or .. something
[22:42:29] <jepler> in TRUNK they're not, in 2.2 they are
