[00:19:02] <jepler> goodnight alex
[01:45:30] <jmkasunich__> jmkasunich__ is now known as jmkasunich
[13:58:24] <alex_joni> hi ray
[14:01:24] <rayh> Hi Alex
[14:06:23] <alex_joni> what's up?
[14:06:40] <rayh> Not to much.
[14:07:13] <rayh> Starting in on a stepper lathe wiring diagram.
[14:08:17] <rayh> I've decided that I need to upgrade this PC. It's still 5.10
[14:10:38] <alex_joni> still does the trick though I bet
[14:11:13] <rayh> Oh yea. Just no update stuff.
[14:11:42] <alex_joni> is 5.10 already out of support?
[14:12:07] <SWPadnos> should be
[14:12:11] <alex_joni> I see.. it happened in april
[14:12:17] <rayh> I get a big error message when I run synaptic these days.
[14:12:21] <SWPadnos> I think it's 18 months for non-LTS versions
[14:13:00] <alex_joni> yup
[14:13:04] <SWPadnos> and LTS is only 3 years on the desktop - the 5 year number is only for server (whatever that means)
[14:13:05] <rayh> Any thoughts about a Ubuntu update with the 2.0.x release
[14:13:33] <SWPadnos> I think we're sort of waiting for 8.04, which will be another LTS version
[14:13:57] <alex_joni> will it?
[14:14:04] <SWPadnos> but it may be that 2 years is too long to wait between distro updates - the industry moves pretty fast
[14:14:14] <SWPadnos> yes, I think LTS are supposed to be every 2 years
[14:27:32] <jepler> "Hardy Heron is the code name for Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, scheduled for release on in April 2008." https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyHeron
[14:29:34] <alex_joni> I love when they say they're doing a NewPackagesFreezeUniverse
[14:30:31] <alex_joni> 8.04 sounds about right to switch over from dapper
